Calendar

I'm glad they decided to stay open longer in May during the weekdays. I always thought that closing at 7 was too early and silly. Closing at 8pm on weeknights is perfect.

Countdown calander is on the web page 120 days till opening day!

The park closed at 8 on closing day. The outdoor zones opened from 6-8 because the time change allowed it to be dark around 5:30. On Columbus day weekend the park stays open till 10 on Sunday, with the outdoor zones opening from 8-10.

When will the hotel reservations be working online? Id like to compare prices

I can tell you that it will be a heck of a lot cheaper(and better) to stay off property.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I know youre definately right about the Cheaper part. We've stayed at Lighthouse Point before, and I love the little cabins, but I know the odds are that we'll be staying at South Shore Inn or Knights Inn.. Im just curious as to houw much we'll save! haha

Depending on the days/ time of year, you will save quite a bit staying just down the road.I have found rooms from $40 up durring the summer months.

The Knights Inn wasn't awful, but damn, that train really ruins it for me.

You can get the executive suite at Mecca Motel for $60 a night. Two rooms with three double beds. But if you don't like trains the Mecca is

not for you.

Hence why the suite is only $60 a night.

After staying soo many nights at Maples, I can definitely relate to the train deal. I'm good friends with the management there and they always get me good deals but sweet jeeze do those trains suck.

If you think that the train is loud at that hotel, try staying at the campground.

I currently live less then 50 feet from a set of tracks, with crossings around 200 feet in both directions and a switch yard less than 1/4 mile. With trains going by probably 10 or 11 times in 24 hours.
Of course the rent is only $200 a month, you learn to live with the trains for that. :)

And as I write this a train is going by :)

Try living right beside those same tracks. A few years back my apartment in Huron was about 30 yards from the tracks on which a train passed about every 30 minutes. And if that was not enough, I had Cleveland Road traffic on the other side of my apartment.

Im from Eastern Kentucky, so trains do not bother me at all..lol Value and clean is all that matters for me. Ive seen the Mecca Motel before. Is it nice and clean?

crazy horse's avatar

It's hit or miss.

Once I stayed there and it was clean, but outdated. The next time I stayed there, the room seemed updated, and it was still clean but the ac did not work.

Only time I stayed at the camp ground I simply consumed enough alcohol to make the trains a non-issue. :)

What about the Knights Inn? It seems to have good ratings online and it looks nice. Is the train the only issue? A friend of mine stayed there once and said something about the beds were really small. I found that to be a strange comment, because I would assume they are double beds. haha

Try staying at the Days Inn by the train tracks by the turnpike, you wont get any sleep, trains go by ever 20 min, shakes the whole motel, never again.

Brittany, the Knights Inn was fine. They likely have rooms with varying bed sizes, so if that's an issue, make sure you request a king size bed.

Aside from the train, the only other issue we had was with other guests in the courtyard area making noise pretty much all night. Of course, that's a potential problem at most hotels, especially around CP.
