Bye to PB

A family member of mine in Georgia has fallen off the wagon (alcohol addiction) & is in the hospital after trying to kill herself. This, along with my comments in the smoking thread, has forced me into looking at my own addiction. Although this site is a source of fun & relaxation for me to unwind from a high stress career, it is, I must admit, an addiction at times that is a source of frustration for my husband as he hates me spending time online. So in order to force myself to stay clear of here, I am writing this last post, so that I will not be tempted to continue or "fall back" because I will look like an idiot if I go back on my word.

I have enjoyed many discusions & much of the sense of humor (when it is not at the expense of others that is). But I must get back to who I am, & that does not include being an internet junkie. Wife, mother, nurse & most of all, a Christian...a follower of Christ. Trust me when I say that the only good ever noted in me was Christ shinning through. Forgive me for any comments I ever made that fell out of that realm.

Thank you Walt & Jeff for allowing me into your world for awhile. Everyone...please consider others feelings when writing your posts. Honesty is important, but it doesn't need to be brutal honesty.

Well, thanks for reading this post. Th, th, th that's all folks!

PS: J or W: Can't find the delete account button now guys, you delete it for me OK? :)

GG - I don't know if you will be reading this, as it appears that the above was your last post. If you do, I want you to know that I have enjoyed reading your insights. I am old enough to know that in life, you sometimes need to take time out to sort out your obstacles and overcome them. I also want you to know that, although I am sure Jesus has worked thru you, you were a part of that light, much to his pride and our benefit.

Best of luck and perhaps someday you will be in a position to rejoin.

Sorry to see you going.:(
If you manage to get to these posts, I wish the best for you and your family, and as a fellow Christian, my prayers are with you always. You are a great person and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, and I was pleased to have met you last year.

Good luck and hope to see you on the midway.

P.S.-Thanks for the aspirin.;)

I am sorry to see you go. You were a very positive influence on this blog site. Walt/Jeff, please delete me too, I'm done as well...Happy CP-ing to all!

I'm sorry to see you go, GG. You were the first person I met from PB. Good Luck with everything and hope all goes well.

So what does that whole spiel have to do with PB? The internet isn't harmful to you. If your not spending enough time with your family just lighten up on the time spent here. No need to totally cut something harmless as well as something you love out of your life. Sorry for being insensitive but this thread is weird.

^ - that's the problem with addiction. You cannot "lighten up" on it and still expect to function. I applaud Randi for identifying an issue in her life that was starting to affect the rest of her life and having the courage to do something about it. It's unfortunate that the issue was her internet time (and more specifically PointBuzz).

We'll see you on the Midways Randi.

I'm sad to see you go, but I really don't understand...
Are you trying to say that you are addicted to the Internet? That just sounds kinda odd. I wish you the best in life. So long!

Gee...I like Poinbuzz and all...but...................................

I will say this. Internet addiction is not odd. It is real and it is having a significant impact on families across the country. In fact, there are Internet Addiction support groups popping up all over the place.

Truth in advertising laws prevent you from changing the slogan to that Jeff :> It just simply is not true.

Porn, FTW.

BTW does the Internet constitute addiction when your living is made from it?

^^^ And right on cue... Jeff with a sarcastic and potentially insensitive comment.

Awesome.

I'm staying put. Since I'm moving to Central Florida in less than a week for a new job (with Disney), PointBuzz will be my link to Cedar Point. Since Cedar Point was so important to my Mom, I enjoy keeping up with it. So keep me informed guys. Those of you in Florida, I'll see you soon. And anyone working at Disney, I'll be working in the Reservation Center.

Are you working in Tampa SPG? I thought most of their Reservations folks were over there.

Hmmm... So that's what the premium membership gets you! :)

Actually, doesn't the premium membership remove the porn from PointBuzz?

I don't think my comment was sarcastic or insensitive, or even directed at the original post. But whatever, you see whatever context you want.

Ben: I think if you work on the Internet regularly you tend to avoid it when possible the rest of the time. At least, that has been my M.O. It's not like the "good old days" late in the last decade where I could just senselessly
surf for crap for hours. Now I give my Google Reader a quick scan every day and that's pretty much it.

155 million sites and nothing on. It's cable TV for the new century!

I would buy a shirt with that on it.

If enough people were to wear that shirt then I would assume many people would at least visit the site, kinda like what Godaddy did. ;)

As for the topic of this thread, it is sad to see you go. I may not talk to many on here but I do read everything and noticed that you were quite nice. Best of luck to ya.
