Busy day backup plan

Despite our best efforts, we sometimes end up on the Point on a day where it seems that all of N Ohio, W Penna, and SE Michigan also dropped in for a spin.

So, what's your favorite strategy for making lemons out of lemonade?

A few of mine include:

* Strolling the boardwalk or (even better) walking in along the waters edge or even taking a dip in the lake if I've got my suit with me.

* Grabbing a drink or a bite in Breakwater---it never seems crowded once the breakfast rush is done.

* Skeeball!

My backup plan for a busy day includes everything I normally do on an all-day visit:

* Lunch either at the Breakers' TGI Fridays or at Chet and Matt's
* Wandering around not making any decisions at all about what to ride/do
* Relax

For me, nothing really changes if it's busy. Except maybe I don't ride MF or TTD. No biggie. I've ridden them both before and I'll ride them again. That's what season passes are for, right?

*A relaxing ride on Paddlewheel excursions, sky ride, and CP & LE RR.

*A trip back through time at Town Hall museum.

*A walk on the beach.

If I get there early then I will just run to the back before the rest of the crowd gets there and tackle the rides back there. Then just sort of stroll around for a while, riding rides I normally wouldn't ride such as Paddlewheel Excursions.

You'll always be able to get a major ride in if you grab a freeway stamp, so usually I don't worry about that.

A nice stroll down the Frontier Trail is somewhat relaxing. Fairly quiet, usually not too crowded, and lots of shade. I find myself a nice bench in the shade, grab a snack and a soda, and just relax while listening to the sounds of the park.

if it happens to be a busy day when i attend the park, ill usually ride the smaller stuff and just kinda walk around. for example, last year it was quite busy so we rode the bigger stuff in the morning and evening and in between, we rode things like the CP+LE Railroad, had lunch at Midway Market, went to some shows, and hung out in the arcade. then we got bored, and tackled a couple long lines, like Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force's lines. it doesnt matter what level crowds are, any day at Cedar Point is better then a day of work or, something similar to work.

My favorite activity when i get done with a busy Saturday is usually to walk around and take in the atmosphere and ride what ever i feel like at the moment. I like to save my riding days for less crowded days where i can ride everthing w/o much of a wait. I like to take everything in stride during an extremely busy day. Most times while doing this i find myself having more fun than when im on a mission to ride everything.

I discovered this season that it is much more fun to just take in the atmosphere, and have some fun, than attempt to ride every coaster.

Out of my 20 trips to the point in 2003, I only spent some trying to ride a lot of rides. Many of my trips though, were Friday nights, when I knew I couldn't get on everything, and probably had more fun than when trying to rush it.

Go to the hotel, get a 12 pack or 24, get drunk.
If I end up at the park when it's crazy busy, I leave. Ahhh, the beauty of living in Sandusky with a season pass!

A walk along the boardwalk to 'Beaches N Cream'. Moosetracks... Mmmmm...

Checking out the shirts and other unique gifts at Pagoda Gifts and Snoopy Boutique.

Sitting in a shady spot (while giving the kids snacks) and watching all the people around me. The atmosphere really is one of the best things about Cedar Point!

Take in the atmosphere, especially of Frontiertown.

Try some food we normally don't get.

Town Hall Museum,

Take pictures.

Have about 3 (or 4, or 5 etc.) Ultimate Long Island Teas at TGI Fridays, and then go back in the park. The lines seem to move much faster since everything is so much funnier.

Another high point with this solution; most people (especially women) look MUCH BETTER, and after 5 Teas, I look better- thinner too! ;)

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On a busy day we enjoy walking along the beach, shopping in the gift shops, riding the less-crowded rides, drink a few beers, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Go and visit my friends that work in the park, catch one ride on Millennium Force, and then go home and come back another day.
