Bugs are back in full force, not midges?

Was at the park yesterday not realizing it was Lebron Day. Park was packed and hot but we still enjoyed ourselves. Around 8:30pm our fun filled day turned though as millions of gnat-like little bugs descended on the park. It was very weird and everyone was walking around swatting them like crazy, it was bizarre. We were in line for the Witches Wheel and even an employee came in and asked what was up with all of the swarms of bugs. I asked if it had been going on and he said not, it just came on suddenly. Anyhow, heard some people walking out of the park saying that they needed to do something about the bugs but I can't imagine what, I'm hoping it's a temporary thing!

On another note, got our last ride in on Witches Wheel and it was memorable. I wanted to ride with my son and mid ride he flew back and we bonked heads which was painful, and then the ride operator kept asking someone to put away their phone. Apparently they cut our ride short and were going to let us have another full ride. I ended up getting off as I can only take so much and my son rode the last ride by himself. Will miss it a little bit for nostalgia but excited to see what else might be coming!

It was awful on Sunday night, last week.

I live on Lake St. Claire and we too have experienced what seems to be another hatching of gnats of biblical proportions.

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

The bugs certainly make CP a place like no other.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

More spider food. As if they needed more at CP.

From what I've read the more bugs = a healthier lake. This is great overall but..... Spiders. Scarier to me than any haunt they will ever have. Thank god they have screens on the balcony's at Breakers!

Back when MF had the FL under the station I remember looking up and there were a good 50-100 just crawling around above us. *Shivers*

And more to roast on Steel Vengeance's lights. I remember last year I rode millennium force twice and when I got off I was covered in more than 40 bugs.

At least we aren't having mayflies at full force. My town was always covered in the damn things every early June. Sail camp saw the kids picking them off the boats and throwing them at each other, the counselors, you name it. My crew would always freak out if there were mayflies on board, and they would constantly snap, crackle, and pop as boat dollies ran over them. I've also slipped on them so much. XD Funny story, last year I was watching luminosity(rip) a bunch of mayflies just shot out of the back of the stage almost as if on queue.

Steel Vengeance rides: 224

I'd rather be sailing

It really did seem worse than usual for us this year on our trip. There were swarms of them in various spots throughout the park, just in the walkways. We made the mistake of getting a nighttime ride on MF in the front, which usually does contain a few bug hits, but this was the most unbearable MF ride I've had. Could barely open my eyes or mouth...and when we got off, my gf literally had to go to a rest room, take off her top shirt and try to clean up in a sink. It was a bug massacre.

Gross! Glad we skipped that one! I was picking bugs out of my teeth on the way home and immediately hit the shower once we got home. So nasty!

Stagnant water lagoons and a giant bay/lake. Bugs be inevitable. We were grooming them from one another like primates last month on the MF night rides.
