I'm sad to see Bryan go. He has always been a pleasant face at the park, and a good friend to groups visiting "behind the scenes" and "off-season" tours. I've certainly had the sense at various events past that he truly loved the park and enjoyed working there. But I'm sure he's ready for a change after so many years of service.

I cannot imagine how frustrating a job in PR is...sometimes you can't say what you want to say, sometimes you can't say what the media wants you to say, and sometimes you don't have enough information from those above you to say anything at all. I'm sure there are many times where you are the proverbial "whipping boy," unwarranted though that may be.

I'm glad to see he's staying in the area, and I wish him all the best.

Googling his name gives me some high school football player.

Googling "Bryan Edwards Cedar Point" will bring up results about Cedar Point's now former Public Relations Manager....

Well its unfortunate Bryan has moved on after 20+ yrs. with CP hailing to almighty King Kinzel era and the new era for the past 3 yrs.. I'm not surprised as either one of these PR people were going to move on or let go. Tony Clark is not pretty much in charge now as expected since coming back 2 yrs ago and just showed us that he'd welcome the dark side in Ouimett era. Good luck Bryan!

I met Bryan at several NoCoasters -- always a great guy to talk with and clearly someone who enjoyed his work.

DISCLAIMER: I don't have professional knowledge of the amusement industry, Cedar Point, or Cedar Fair, etc., therefore my question may make some of you shake your head in disbelief. I am prepared for that.

Question: Could Edwards' departure have anything to do with how he handled the recent tragedy at the park? I'm not saying he did anything wrong. I have nothing to support a claim either. It just seems like an odd point in the season for him and Cedar Fair to part ways.

I suppose my first question to that would be, what do you personally believe was mishandled about the recent tragedy? The park promptly came out ahead of widespread rumors and speculation on social media and in the media. They informed the public of what happened in a gentle manner and emphasized that the rider had climbed a fence to put himself in harm's way.

That said, I suppose it also does seem a little strange. There has been no announcement from the park resulting from the (sudden?) departure of one of the faces of the company. All we got was Bryan's Twitter posts stating that he was no longer with the company. One might have expected a little more fanfare from the park.

At the same time, Bryan had been in various part-time positions with LESI for years, so it may well be that they had a position open up that he jumped at.

All we can really do, though, is speculate, and that's not good for anybody. This is one of those things where some details will always go left unsaid.

No. Bryan announced his departure a couple of weeks before the accident happened. An opportunity came up with Lake Erie Shores and Islands and he took it. I worked with Bryan in the past and I look forward to working with him at LES&I.

I don't think his departure has to do with the accident. Some people in certain roles just get overwhelmed over the years and find out later that they need a change. I feel that way with my Full-Time job, but can't leave right now because it's my bread and butter job. This is why I'm in school so I have more options down the road. Maybe that's what was the case with Bryan Edwards. Best of luck to you in your future Bryan!

The timing of Mr Edwards departure and the recent unfortunate incident are coincidental. After two decades at the park, I can certainly understand he might want to seek new challenges; and his new role allows him to stay in the same area he's called home for those decades.
