Hi everyone. My family of 5 is planning on going to Cedar Point in August. Last time we were there, we stayed at the Breakers and were generally satisfied. I was wondering if we should return to the Breakers or try out Sandcastle Suites. Thanks and your feedback is appreciated.
I recommend staying at Breakers. Sandcastle was just renovated, it is nice. How old are your kids? To me, it just gets old walking back and forth, way out to sandcastle. You can take the shuttle, but the wait can take a while. I have 2 year old twins, and just like the quick convenience of a short walk back to the room. We stayed out there last summer just to see how the renovations were, and vowed just for convenience, to stay at Breakers from now on. Alot of it would just be personal preference.

I'm actually one of the kids. I'm 17 and my sisters are 15 and 10. My parents just thought that Breakers was overpriced and were wondering if Sandcastle was actually worth the money.
I honestly think the rooms are a touch smaller than the breakers suites. You do get nice LCD flat panels at Sandcastle though....lol

I would say skip both of them and either get a Cabin or Cottage at Lighthouse point.
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
We looked at Lighhouse point last time but my parents thought that they looked to small for us. Thanks though
Breakers. Breakers. (: (:
But if you have a lot of people, cabin. (:

When we stayed out at Sandcastle, we felt like we weren't in the "Cedar Point atmosphere", kinda secluded. But, some people like that. We like being in the thick of things.

Sandcastle Suites was completely renovated last year and looks beautiful. You also can't beat the screened in balconies available in some rooms and the amazing view of the lake.
All the suites at both hotels have screened in balconies minus the ones on the first floors that have walk-out patios. It would really suck if they didn't have the screens, especially out at Sandcastle with all those bugs, they are really bad in the staircases walking up to the second and third floors.
Another plus of the Breakers is the choice of the 3 pools and 4 hot tubs.

I don't take credit for much but I will take some credit for the screens. Having lived in Florida I was stunned to find the screenless balconies considering how horrible the bugs were. The screens cut that problem down by 75-80%.

We love Breakers and always stay in a regular room if just 2 or 3 of us or in a suite if 4 or 5. It's great being so close, and we get a room key for everyone in case someone wants to walk back to the room or go to the pool.
We stayed at Lighthouse Point two years ago just for a change and we didn't care for it. For four of us the cabin felt too small, and too much like a mobile home. We missed the comfort and convenience of Breakers. We didn't like waiting for the shuttle either.
