I'm at the park and I've always wondered what the TGI Fridays is like in the breakers. Do you have to be a hotel guest to eat there? Are the prices inflated making it unreasonable or is it fairly priced? This might make my descison whether to eat there this evening or not. Thanks!
- No, you do not have to be a hotel guest.
- Yes the prices are outrageous
- I have yet to get decent, timely service at that Fridays.
The prices are similarly up charged like every other chain in the park, About $2-5 per entree over regular franchise.
Like virtually every other aspect of the park, the experience is what you make of it- if you go in with a crappy attitude about the prices, you will most likely be unhappy. It is usually extremely busy around park closing, and servers are overworked (I am Not saying they don't sometimes screw up, like every other restaurant does) .
It can be a very Fun place in the bar area, the bartenders are usually extremely fast and spot on.
Have fun with them and they will have fun with you.
Bar prices are not unreasonable either.
As far as Famous Daves, it is good too. Some people tend to conflate quantity with quality here though.
So it depends what you're looking for, if you want a trough of fries go to Daves.

CoasterGuy, why don't you try it and come to your own conclusion? I usually only sit in the bar, and I agree, the bartenders are spot on. The food has come quickly and was hot, I don't have any complaints about the restaurant and go there throughout the season. I have no idea how dining room service is on a busy day however.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Don't get me wrong, I rarely complain when I'm out to eat and especially when I'm at CP. I simply answered the original poster's answers.
I'm with Bret on Famous Dave's. I've always had good service there. Even when I bring my kids. And yes, the prices are also outrageous, too. That's part of going out at any amusement park.
A group of us did TGI Friday's on the Passholder Preview Night before the park even opened and it wasn't that busy. Yet still, our drinks didn't come out until our food came out. We gave our server a free pass because we could see it was his first day ever in the service industry. He had a supervisor helping him out as well.
I still have a collection somewhere of 'Free Potato Skins' coupons from the self admitted crummy service from Fridays over the last several years. These coupons come from our server where they usually forget part of our order or are out of something, I don't even complain, I just get them. But I never use them because I forget to bring them.
I know it's just my opinion, but I think the food quality at Famous Daves is really good. We are a family of 4 including a 16 year old and a 4 year old. We always get the half size family feast which says it feeds 2 but easily feeds our whole family. That is very reasonably priced, and even if we get a couple beers for the mrs. and I, when we apply the pass discount, we end up spending only as much or less than we would for a normal night out at Buffalo Wild Wings or something similar.
I don't dislike the Fridays at Breakers. As far as the view goes for the sit down restaurants, it can't be beat. It's just if I'm given the option, I'm choosing Daves.
So far I've been to Friday's twice this year. Both times the service was good, drinks were never empty, and the food was good. I usually stick with the grilled chicken sandwich and my wife gets a salad though. I'm just bot impressed with Friday's entrees in general.
The prices are, as others stated inflated but I like the location and the atmosphere there.
Friday's is terrible no matter where you have it. But yeah, I've always had good bar service at least.

You pretty much pay for the location and the fact that it's at cedar point. but it's only a few bucks more. Jack daniels menu is amazing.
Famous daves is my favorite restaurant there, good BBQ. Once again, you pay more for the location. I'm sure they hiked up the prices even more now b/c of valravn being there, hehe....
We braved Fridays on their first day open for the season (and I think you got seated next to us as we were about to leave, Josh), and while the food was predictably mediocre, I was impressed with the staff. They were clearly overwhelmed and flustered, but our server hustled and was friendly.
And when we came back later that night for a snack and booze, the bar was even better.
Yes, it's overpriced and not a great value, but no more so than any other beachfront restaurant in my opinion.

They do have some good menu items. The burgers are good, ribs are good and the Grilled Chicken and Cheese entree is good. That is about the limit of my experience with the menu, but I find it satisfying to go to the bar later at night for a burger and booze.

Thanks for all the input! I'm going to have to try out Famous Dave's it looks like. I'll probably give Fridays a try some other time as well, but we settled on the usual platinum deal of chili cheese fries and drinks to hold us over until after we left the park to go out to eat. Maybe this thread can be renamed best restaurants or places to eat at the point (although I'm sure there are already a few of those :p)
