Breakers Express is CP's "budget" property. It's a box with beds and a shower. Basically, a place to stash your stuff, clean your body, and crash with safety. If you start adding amenities, you have to put the support system for the amenities in place, and the price will go up.
I have liked the BE from the start. Never had any real problems there, except for our Opening Weekend stay there this year. (TV cable, 3am fire alarm). But, these things happen. I have always been very pleased with their Housekeeping Department. Every room I have gotten has been clean, and their HK staff has always been right there with extra towels, or supplies, or anything I ever asked for. They've always been especially polite and friendly as well. I've left tips for housekeeping at BE, which is something I'm not in the habit of doing unless the service is top-notch.
However, I have to agree, that if you are staying at a Cedar Point resort property, parking should be included, whether you are on-Point or not, whether you are on a package plan or not. They could give that one back and make tons in goodwill.

Do they have room service? Cheaper? they don't run the fire alarm tests before noon? What makes them better?
If you're asking me about the Maples - sorry, I didn't want to be like a certain "Mr." and hijack the thread with my own lodging views ;)
It's an old 1950's - style roadside motel at the end of the Chausee, with only 24 rooms and 4 cabins. I had heard so much about this place and had never evn thought to give it a try until I headed up at the last minute on Friday morning and saw that it was $45 a night, opposed to BE's $120.
The rooms are cozy and extremely clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is extremely friendly. There's no room service, obviously - but there are hammocks and places to sit around in all the grass. There's also a basketball hoop and a dog named daisy that you can take on a walk through the trails, and will visit your room if you ask.
I know for sure that I will be reserving a room for the weekend of the 4th.

That and it took 30 minutes for the tub to drain... yuck...
Our shower at BE was draining slowly at first too. I think that you have to pull up on the drain and then turn it so that it is in the "up" position.
Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless
I spent a couple nights there this past weekend. Perfectly serviceable, though the beds are a bit soft for my tastes. Yes, breakfast options there are minimal at best. But, Mango Mike's at Castaway Bay is only 2 minutes away, and has a nice buffet with omelet and waffle stations. $10 per person---really a very good deal.
I'd rather not see them include parking, because then you can pretty much count on room rates going up $10 to make up for it.
True, but I'd be surprised if that would benefit more than a handful of people. I suspect the majority of guests arrive for the day mid-morning and then depart for the day in the afternoon/evening. Of the guests that leave the park to eat, many probably eat in their cars or a picnic shelter with food in a cooler. Some guests probably leave once. The number that leave twice can't be big at all. Heck, I have a parking pass, and I've entered the gates three times in once day precisely once in five years---and that was only because I wanted to retrieve our stuff from a Soak City locker while the rest of the family was resting at the hotel.
E X I T IF I'm the "Mr" reffered to, I DON'T "hijack" threads. I only offer my opinion and advice as where to stay while visiting Cedar Point. I only want people to have a great as times as I have had.

Well, that didn't work out so good.
Now, back on topic...I have stayed at BE for 4 nights during 2 trips. Both times I was pleased with the cleanliness and morning coffee and donuts.
But I will probably never stay there again, as I love Lighthouse Point even better. I doubt I'll ever stay anywhere again.

You don't hijack threads Mr. Scott, you just mention Lighthouse 4 times in the same thread.
Not hijacking at all...
I've been appointed Mayor, what else did you expect? If you have stayed there, you'd know it's the best place to stay while visiting the Point.

MrScott is right to mention it frequently, once you've tried LHP, you likely will always want to go back.
Though, on second thought, maybe you should mention it less. Its gonna be harder to book a cabin if everyone else gets hooked! ;)

I wish I could stay there, but alas, the girlfriend is only 20, and the folks at Cedar Point don't like that.

My girlfriend is only 18 (i know, I know - cradle....) - we have no trouble staying at the Maples :)
Yes, I was at the Maples this weekend as well. I love that place (except for the trains-they keep the girlfriend awake).
Dj-I was under the impression that everyone who stayed had to be over the age of 21, unless it is a parent/guardian and child relationship. Is this not correct?

When I checked in, Joan asked if I knew you :D
The trains didn't bother me too much, and Jen was out like a light - and hogging all the blankets, too - so it didn't really bother her, either. I did hear them every once in a while when I was in the not-so-deep-sleep phases of the night.
