My family and I may be taking a trip out to Cedar Point in October and are curious of how is the Breakers-Bon Air section, is it nice? I mean the price is good, but I'm not sure if it's worth it after reading all the reviews.
EDIT: Any kind of pics would be great.

The reviews are true. It is old not updated and has a musty smell. Plus these are the last rooms cleaned so don't expect if even one minute before 4pm.

Well, since he is going in October, the park doesn't even open till late on Friday, so that's not an issue.
I've stayed there, its not bad, but its not great either. Its a room with a room and some walls and some beds. You're paying a premium for location though.

I was there in June. The rooms are spartan, but mine was clean and comfortable. True, the housekeeping is not the fastest. Also, no elevator to get you to the upper floors, so travel light.
Ask for a room with a lake view. You wake up to a beautiful sight that is a great way to start your day at CP. And, if your a history buff, realize you are staying in one of the few remaining original sections of the hotel.
The Bon-Air section of CP is pretty bad. The rooms are outdated and not well maintained. There is also a musty smell in the halls.
The main section of Breakers is a better choice for a few more dollars and you get a better room. If you are lucky enough you may even get the free wi/fi from the Rotonda if you are close enough to the center.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it.
Piss on it and walk away.
The rooms in the main section of the Breakers with one king bed are off the rotunda and I would definately stay there again especially if I am by myself.

The rooms in the Bon-Aire section are VERY small. You have to go outside just to change your mind! If you want an original room, the best for 4 people is probably the HNR2QM. They are located in the Main Section and are quite large with 2 queen beds versus the 2 double bed rooms in the Bon-Aire section.
I have to disagree with most people. I stayed there in june of 2006 and it was fine for me. I was in the park 99% of the time and the beds were fine. A rooms a room for me and there was plenty of space for 2 people.

I would say the Bon Air rooms are about the same size as the All Star Resort rooms at Disney. The difference? The All Star is about a half a century newer.
I will tell you that the carpet, furniture, wallpaper, etc has all been replaced at regular intervals. But, it is hard to get the "musty" smell out of a wood building, sitting on a lake, that was built in the 20s.
Particularly when that building is NOT heated in the winter. That really adds to an already difficult situation. I respect history but Bon Air is ready for the East/Tower treatment.

Bon Air rooms are adequate, but do not expect a modern type hotel room.
I would stay there, but I like the old CP "stuff". My family likes the Snoopy decor of the tower, so, that is where we must stay. My worst experiences of staying in hotel rooms over the years may be in the Bon Air wing, but they are also bring some of my fondest memories.
Having walked around and through the wing in the last week, I notice that the eavestroughs are looking like a they could develop into a small jungle. No doubt, water drainage froom the roof if impeded would contribute to soaking building infrastructure and contribute to musty odours.
This is a small maintance issue for such a grand hotel.....is anyone looking after these types of things?
By the way, I can't help but notice dormers on the roof of the Bon Air wing. What is up there and where is the access?? (is Bon Air actually 4 storys?)
Let me put it this way. I'd rather stay at the Bon Air section of Hotel Breakers than the VIP luxury booku suite of any other hotel. Yes, the rates are a result of the amenities Breakers has to offer.
In the past three years, I've stayed in the Bon Air section on about 18 different occasions, totalling around 40 days. The rooms are not great, but they're not bad. If you're only going to the Point once this year, you might wanna spring for the HNR2Q rooms in the Tower section. I've stayed in those a few times, and once in the aforementioned Snoopy Decor section of the Tower. These rooms are a little more spacious, and come with a safe and refrigerator.
But, considering I make 8 multi-day trips to the Point annually, the Bon Air section is perfect for me.

Well said Darth Snoopy, most folks going to CP for multi days a number of times during the year cannot or will not pay the rates for the better rooms.
Bon Air wing provides reasonable room rates for frequent overnight visitors wishing the ammenities of staying at a "resort hotel" within the park boundries. I have heard that some Hotel Breakers rooms go for near $1,000 a night. Too rich for me!
I wish they'd update the old sections of the hotel and restore them to their original grandeur. The hotel has so much potential and they just butchered the place during the "upgrade". It bugged me so much when CP lost the historic designation for the hotel because they altered the building too drastically.
