Bottled Water

I decided to do up a trip planner for May 4, and while reading my results, I see that CP will now allow UN-OPENED bottles of water to be brought into the park. This makes me a happy camper. Last year we weren't allowed to bring in even un-opened bottles of water.

I learned something similar to that last summer: you can go to any food stand and get a large cup of ice water - for free!

I don't see why anyone would actually buy the bottled water. The free water tastes just as good (filtered by the soda fountain) and it includes ice.

Yes straight from the open sewer called lake Erie j/k. City water aint all that bad. Just make sure that u have your imodium AD when you drink the water!! lol
I've taken advantage of the ice water available for free. But sometimes I prefer not to stand in line for it. Bottled water is cheap enough to buy and stick into a cooler. Bottles are easier to carry around, and stick into a cargo pant pocket when on a ride.

Redbrigade, there is nothing wrong with city water. It's perfectly safe and healthy to drink. The only downfall is you can taste the chemicals if it isn't filtered, the CP soda fountain water is filtered.

I'm a sweeper at Knotts and sometimes guests even ask me to answer cell phones for them and joke around with the caller! I really enjoy helping guests out with things like taking pictures. Sweeps are always on the move so interacting with guests is the only way to stay sane at times.

Seriously, ANY employee should take a picture if asked so long as it doesn't compromise safety. Safety comes before Courtousey comes before capacity is a good rule of thumb. Never compromise safety for capacity or courtousey and never compromise courtosey for capacity.

Last year, I got ice water from the stand across from WT on several occasions last year. I think it tastes better than bottled water because I drink filtered, softened water at home. Having ice to keep it cold as well as crunch on after the water is gone is an added bonus.

I have only had one problem with the free ice water. Sometimes, the soda fountain they take the water from is also used for another kind of drink. Therefore, every so often, my water would have a hint of pink lemonade to it. I had a boot cup (with free refills) that I used all season long, so I usually got pop (very unhealthy) but a few times a day I would ask them to fill it with ice water.

I never knew you couald get free ice water. How long has this been going on for?

At least as long as I've been going there, and I made my first trip in 1989. One of my mom's biggest gripes when we went to PKI when I was little was that they charged 10 cents for a cup of water. She thought it was great that CP gave it away for free.

I never knew it was free until early this year also.

Well of course they don't publicize the fact that you can get free ice water...they want your money! :)

They have to be willing to do it so they can't get inb trouble making people dehydrated if the person doesn't have money. It costs CP almost nothing and there can be some great guset satisfaction, but they definately would "prefer" if you bought the $3.00 bottled water.

If you don't like it, Shut Up and don't get in line.

The interesting thing is that some years ago, in an interview with Amusement Business, CP's director of food service ops talked about his reluctance to sell bottled water, even though customers were demanding it. Finally the opportunity to make a pile of money off of people who would rather buy an expen$ive bottle of water and pour it all over themselves instead of collecting a free cup of ice water and pouring it all over themselves apparently proved too good to pass up.

By the way, Kings Island doesn't charge for cups of ice water either. At least they didn't on Friday.

I'm not surprised that PKI doesn't charge anymore. The last time I was there was in 1999, so it has probably changed since then. I was surprised last summer when I was charged a quarter for ice water at MIA. I guess I just figured it would be like CP since it is another Cedar Fair park.

Last year you were allowed to bring in unopened bottles of water. You couldn't bring in anything that was opened; but if you had an empty bottle, you could bring it in and get it filled at a water fountain, and even some food stands, I think. So, if you came to the gate with a bottle of water that wasn't sealed, you could throw it out, or empty it and refill it in the park.

"Hmm. . .we don't have anything like that. . .but I can give you this comment card."

When I was ad Cedar Point and I got a free water is was brown, so I went to another place and got a new one
to prevent from getting slightly discolored water, i found that is best to allow one member of your group go infront of you and order the water first. this allows whatever excess that is still left on the fountain to be eliminated by the time you order your water.

when i worked at the stand formerly known as Gulliver's Grill with the "Booster Bucks" program, we would run the water for a few seconds before giving out any of the cups. i wonder if you asked the employees if they would do this for you? hmmmm...

I have taken advantage of the free water at the park many times. I hate to fork over any kind of money for soda no matter where it is. I guess I'm so used to getting it free at work that it seems like a crime to have to pay for it. At the same time, I'd much rather drink water while in the park no matter if it's hot out or not. All that sugar in the soda makes me feel sluggish if I drink it in the heat of the day. Water seems to satisfy me far more be it free or not.
