Blue Streaks train

On my way home from work this evening I was driving east on Rt 2 in Huron and I passed a flatbed semi with one of Blue Streaks trains on it. I had to do a double-take as it was starting to get dark, but as I passed the truck it definatly was one of Blue Streaks trains.

I always thought the trains stayed on point during the off-season to be refurbished and such. Any ideas where it could be headed?

I suppose it's possible that they're going to PTC, which I believe can be contracted to do rehab work. Given the sheer volume of rides that CP has at this point, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if they outsourced some of that work just to get it done in time.

Well, last year Cedar Point shipped them and had them rebuilt by PTC.

But didn't they only do that with one of the trains last off-season? Which would make sense for the other train to be getting overhauled this year.

Tom Rebbie said at No Coaster Con that PTC was rehabbing both Blue Streak trains and all 3 Mean Streak trains for the 2011 season.

I thought all of the trains from both coasters were rehabbed, but only the one Blue Streak train was fully refurbished.

What the others have said. Only one train was totally refurbished. The other one appeared to just get some fresh paint on top of the regular off-season tear down. I would guess the second train is getting refurbished this year.

Ascetically, I have no idea. But, based on what Tom Rebbie told me, I was under the impression that both trains got new chassis.

It's incredible to me at this point how often there are sightings of track or coaster trains or whatever on the interstates. It's almost next to impossible to move any sort of track or trains without someone noticing and posting on the interwebs.

I think it's great. It forces parks to think of new ways to unveil their new attractions. They have to be innovative to keep the hype going.

And it forces CP to announce stuff earlier. It looks like our new coaster will be announced at coaster mania

I have worked Blue Streak as in charge for the past two years and worked there a little in 2009. Both trains were completely refurbished for 2011. One train was more obvious because it had new shiny orange lap bars and the other did not. But trust me, both were worked on, not just one. K thanks! :)

Well, one train was noticeably better than the other this past season, both in looks and feel.

No offense but I sure hope not. Why limit the audience to just ACE members? Announcing it at the event dedicated to all coaster enthusiasts/groups makes a little more sense. Plus, it would then render the plot of my next film festival entry useless if it was announced that early. ;)
