Anyone else notice all the new wood on Blue Streak? Or for that matter the new steel on it? It may have not been on the track itself, but I've noticed that all the handrails have been raised and some of the steps along the track have been replaced with steel steps. A platform has been built towards the top of the lift facing the infield of the ride. I've also noticed wood running parallel to the rails throughout the course as well.
I'm guessing this is a response to the OSHA fines from last year. Considering how awesome Blue Streak was running yesterday, I will take the added safety features to allow maintenance to take great care of this ride safely.
For those who haven't ridden Blue Streak yet this season, I strongly suggest you do. It's running fast, smooth, and really hauls through the turnaround.

Rob, I also noticed that Blue Streak was running fantastic this year. From what I understand the updates are OSHA related. Mean Streak also now has boards running down the middle of the track through the entire course. Too bad Mean Streak isn't running like Blue Streak...

It was running great on the 2nd day of the season. I rode it twice in a row because the first ride was so good. But then on the 3rd day it went down mechanical on the first train with riders.

I saw the updates to. It really gives you a kick on the 2nd hill. The lights are really nice (they are like a bluish white). I have also seen the parralel wood on the track of blue streak & mean streak. Also, Gemini has new wooden handrails from the 1st turn (after hill) until the 2nd turn.
Blue Streak has a lot of nostalgia for me. Great to hear it is in top running form! Only wish that they would get rid of that middle seat divider and go back to the bench seat - but I'm sure that regulations somewhere won't allow it.
I rode it on Monday and it had a great ride! I didn't get so beat up and it seemed to be much smoother! I am glad they keep Blue Strak! Its so much fun!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
Any chance they could be extended the whole track and have the other rail covered too? They look great but I would look amazing if that occurred.
People were talking about the new BS lights in a different thread. Don't worry Tony, nothing goes unnoticed on Pointbuzz. :)
Let's Get Weird.
The new LED's look awesome. I liked the "classic" old lights, but there were always so many burned out that it just didn't look good many times. Hopefully the LED's eliminate that problem. As for the ride its self, it's definitely hauling. I hopped on yesterday when I noticed it was a walk on and had a great ride. It really books it through the turnaround this year.
I have to agree, BS is running well this year. Kudos to whatever maintenance/retracking went into it over the off-season.

Ever since I started going to CP, Blue Streak has improved every year. I dont know what magic you guys are working on it but keep it up!
I love Blue Streak with all my heart. My coaster count is in the hundreds, and I will always go back to the Blue Streak as one of my all-time favs. Not the tallest or fastest, but it packs a thrilling little punch every time. We are so lucky to have it.

Let me just say BLUE STREAK WAS GRATE! whatever maintenance / re-tracking that took place over the off season did good things for her. I was so please i rode it several times in a row before i moved on. Now after seeing the change in Blue Streak i would like to ad... What the HELL did they do to mean streak. I think it has gotten worse this year. PLEASE build us a NEW WOODIE PLEASE!

Are the LED lights in some sort of chaser mode? We did notice the new lights on a few of our drives off the resort but they weren't turned on till one of our last days. The night we did see them on they were just turned on with no chasing. I always loved how the lights chased around the entire ride, especially when returning to the hotel late at night. The park just seems to be a different place lit up.
