Blue Streak Model

I though everyone would be interested to know that I just finished plans for a model of the Blue Streak. Once finished, the model will be 14 feet long and about 2.5 feet wide. The blueprints are finished and supplies are on the way to start work on the footers. I plan to have this model fully operational and as close to the real thing as possible. I will post pictures as soon as the work on the footers has finished, because there is really nothing to see at this point. Check back soon for some photo updates.

Well then come back when you actually have something to show us. Until then, you might want to think about cutting that signature down.

^ Why is he not welcome to stay around in the meantime? Why should he cut his sig down? Why did you post anything?

Walt, I thought you fired the pointbuzz cops....

I never said he wasn't welcome. But why post about this model unless he has something to show us? Just another topic that goes nowhere. I guess some people don't mind pointless topics.

You should know why his sig needs to be shorter Mark. Then again, so should he.

Point Buzz police? Hardly. If you knew anything Justin, you would know I speak up on topics like this about once a year. Should I have added one of these ":)" after my post to make the rest of the children happy?

I suppose it could have been. But for those of you that have actually been here for more then a year now, you know how it use to be. By far my comment was not that bad compared to those in the past. But I guess it could have been worded a little better. I just get tired of poitless topics sometimes, as we all do I am sure. When I see a topic about a Blue Streak Model, I assume when I open and read that topic, I am going to get to see pictures of that topic!

EDIT--Wait? What just happened to Ensigns post? My post was in regards to his.

See, that is all you had to do in the first place. You have to understand there really was no point to your first post. It would be like me starting a topic about how I was watching Cedar Point on TV right now. It talks about Cedar Point, but has no meaning.

But welcome to Point Buzz.

Sorry, 99er. My bad. I went to edit my post, and I accidentally deleted it. For the sake of those watching at home, I was attempting to gently chastise 99er about the tone of his first reply, and that first-timers ought to be treated nicely, especially when they're attempting to contribute something interesting. But like an idiot, I sent my post into the e-void, from which there is no escape, and I didn't have time immediately to reconstruct what I originally wrote.

I figured that had happened. I have done it many times when trying to edit a post quickly:)

Although I was confused at first once I posted.

Jacob, that sounds like one heck of a model. Have you ever built a working wood coaster model? I would imagine there would be some monetum issues that would have to be addressed.

If you can, post some links to pictures of the blue prints. I'm interested in seeing what you have!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,

Yes, the whole project sounds intriguing. Blueprints may not be exciting to look at, but they'll at least give us an idea of what to expect.

The blueprints are in pencil right now, so I'm in the process of putting it in ink so it's easier to photograph. I've built many models in the past of other carnival rides and roller coasters, but this will be my first attempt at a scratch built working roller coaster. I've built working models from kits, but this one I plan to build all on my own. Usually what happens with a model coasters, is the cars need to go much faster than normal to make the whole course of the ride. I plan on posting some pictures of the blueprints by the end of the weekend. Until then have a great weekend...Peace

That's awesome that you are attempting to build a working model. From what I've seen it looks like a heck of a challenge to do so.

I know the guys that developed CoasterDynamix spent some time finding the right mix of things to make an affordable set happen, which that in itself is amazing.

Good luck! Post pics as you go along. At least if it doesn't work, it can look cool.

If I can't eventually get the model to run, it will just end up being a static model which would be awesome as well, but I will try as hard as I can to get it to run.

Do you have the pics of your other models? It would be great to see your skills at building ride models.

That's one heck of a model of Blue Streak. If I were you, I would make it come apart in pieces so then it would be easier to, in case you have to, move it.

unfortunately I don't have any pictures of my past models...i used to have a website with some pictures, but it hasn't been operational for a while.....I also plan on having the models break down into 4 foot sections so it will be easier to transport.

Now when you build this model, and if you decide to make it work. Will you include the squeal of the train going around the turn arounds?
