Blue Streak Midway

Anyone else wish something was done with this? I think the old fountain from a few years back would go great on this midway. That fountain was so much better than the current fountain on the Main Midway in my opinion. I think Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles would be a better fit for this area. Might be a squeeze though.

Something should replace the old pirate ride building even though I know a haunt is held there in Halloweekends.

The park is focusing on other areas that need attention as much as the Blue Streak area. I have no doubt in my mind that within the next couple years, we will be seeing that area freshened up, with the possibility of a better, more visible entrance to the queues.

The whole area became very much hidden after the installation of Raptor. It seems like a forgotten corner now as opposed to how open the area looked in the past. They'll need some designers on this one because Raptor isn't going anywhere. It's a spot we always hit when we're there, though.

Wow it's easy to forget how wide open that area used to be when the Mill Race was still there.
I wonder with the demise of Cedars, that if they will be working on that area next year.

Whenever they turn their focus to this area, i wouldn't mind seeing Turnpike Cars being removed, but i'd like Cadillac Cars to stay. Its nice having one car ride in the front and back of the park, no need for 2 in the front. I also like how the entrance for Cadillac Cars is right on the Midway, the smell and sounds of the cars, it just wouldn't seem right if those were removed.

The turnpike cars are really neat to look at. I like how they have that "modern vintage" sort of style to the cars and the roadway but those cars are awful to fit in.

was it confirmed that the cedars will be torn down?

I completely 100% agree with you. Other people have said in the past, put a roller coaster in there, but your right, it wouldn't be the same without Cadillac Cars there. :)

As mentioned above, I too believe we will see an update to this area. With the proposed removal of the Cedars, a great refresh, perhaps added flow from the CP&LE Railroad station to this midway, renovate Calypso as they are doing with the Monster and updates throughout the area....such as a coaster or thrill ride. Cedar Point won't disappoint...maybe something in '15-'16. It will be exciting to watch.

I've said before on another thread about this midway but I would like to see them move Kiddy Kingdom to this midway. The midway only has two ways in and out, and it would be easy to close off the entrance behind burger patio, or leave it open.

You can remove the Cadillac Cards (and I agree there is no reason for 2 car rides so close to each other) that would offer plenty of room to move the rides, as well as to add a small kid coaster. Blue Streak could even be considered a family coaster, though more toward the older kids.

Even Chickie and Petes would work in this area. A place more toward the parents but it will still be family friendly.

A simple update to the area and when Halloweekends comes around it's already a kid area so House on Boo Hill fit's right in.

I think they should get rid of both cars and put in a coaster, and put a car ride around the footers or around the coaster. An updated more fun version. I think it'd be cool to drive around right next to Raptor and another coaster. And then add some cool tunnels and waterfall or something like that.

I still think if Cedar Point ever decided to move the Challenge Park rides inside the park, Turnpike Cars or Cadillac Cars already have a cool layout that a GoKart area could go in

What does "removing Cedars" mean? Are you talking about trees, or Cedar Downs? And proposed by whom?

I can't fathom Cedar Downs would ever go anywhere. I know there are very few if any scared cows at Cedar Point, but if I'm correct, there are only two of these types of rides on the planet.

I believe they are referring to the cedar dorms

Oh.

:)

Well nevermind then. But I have to agree with this area being somewhat quiet and under-utilized. Not to mention the old Pirate Rode building (no, you don't need to tell me it's used for storage or Boo-Hill, I'm well aware) just sitting there...an odd reminder of the past to those who remember.

Blue Streak is just an iconic piece of history at this park, and a nice overhaul of the area would be wonderful.

If we get updated go karts which I doubt, they need to do the ones at Full Throttle Karting down in Cincinatti..But I doubt it'll ever happen. 40 or so MPH go karts..fantastic

There are 3. One in England, one in I think New Jersey and ours.

With Gold dorms going down, it's pretty inevitable Cedars is on the chopping block. It's also deteriorating. I hope they can shift the road over and add more space into the Blue Streak midway. I'd like to see it extended into Celebration Plaza. That area is a pain to get through when Luminosity is going on. It could make a good shortcut to the exit gates. I know that idea has been brought up before, even I said it before but I don't know what the chances of it actually happening are, probably not very good.

The are three Prior and Church Racing Derby rides. The one in England is at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the other one stateside is at Rye Playland in Westchester County, N.Y. Cedar Point's ride goes slower than the other two but is the only one that still has the back and forth racing feature.

Trust and believe it will never be removed, in fact it went through a major renovation from the floor up for last season. The horses received new paint with each saddle cloth carrying a different design.

Btw- Paul, the woodcarver on the Frontier Trail carves very authentic miniature replicas of the Cedar Downs horses. If you haven't been by his shop to check out his work, you should. He will custom make your horse to your specifications, down to the color of the horse, shape of the saddle cloth, and design on it too. Last season I commissioned a horse for myself as a little Chrismas gift. I sent him an email with a shot of my favorite horse, then he went down and took his own pics, and carved a horse for me. It's just beautiful.
He also makes other ride vehicles. I have a Mill Race log and will soon have a Space Spiral, White Water Landing boat, a Pirate Ride car, and a Schwabinchen girl.

^Well ours is the best then because without the racing feature it's just a fast merry-go-round.
