In 2014 the Blue Streak will turn 50 and I hope Cedar Point will do something to celebrate the anniversary. I would love to them return the trains to lapbar only like they were pre 1996 but I know that is not possible but maybe new signs and banners and sell some new souvenirs and T shirts honoring the ride's 50th birthday. Maybe a special logo for the trains as well as the station. I believe the Blue Streak is still a great ride and a great part of the park and I believe it will be the first coaster in the park's long history to last 50 years.
My jean jacket has a Blue Streak 25th aniversary patch on it so now I'm feeling a bit old...and I miss the lap bars too.
Do you think they will keep the Blue Streak? And how many years do you think they will keep it? It's a great ride.

What coasters are older than blue streak? I think it would be cool to see Blue Streak turn one hundred eventually.
No coasters currently at Cedar Point are older.

I don't know what they could do to make it better for its anniversary. It already runs great. It has brand new lights, and paint. It just had its trains refurbished. What else are ya gonna do to it?

RMC Iron Horse treatment. Nahh im kidding. Should be some cool logos on the trains. It is a great ride and deserves the celebration for reaching a milestone not many coasters have reached.

Don't they pretty much have that now for everyone? Towards the end of the nite, seems to me Blue Streak is running well under half full. The 4 Friday nights I have been there in Sept/October, the most number of riders has been about 6 or 7 (pretty much all night long). I had my own train. Just wish they would let you re-ride when there is no one waiting. One time, there were 3 of us on the train and no one waiting for the next train. When I asked if I could re-rdie, they said I had to walk around. They sent the train out empty.
Probably, because they are thrilled people want to experience that ride multiple times in a row.

They offered, I turned them down tho :)
Do you know what would be cool. If they ran the trains backwards. Because they are PTC trains, they can be run backwards. Maybe a special ERT for passholders backwards? One can hope...

Wouldn't they need to switch the brake fins and the chain lift mechanism on a reversed train? I don't know, so could anybody clear this up?
That would require turning around the trains frequently - no easy task. However, they could run one backwards and one forwards, although then if you wanted a particular ride experience you would have to wait twice as long. The last option, although this would require more reconfiguration of the trains, would be to turn the back 2 cars backwards, although this would mean they would do away with my favorite seat (back row). Overall, I don't know what they could do with the ride. Maybe some added paint, maybe even a tunnel, or some retracking, but nothing that could get rid of its classic feel.
They ran one side of Racer at Kings Island backward. Or, did they? I always assumed that everything sitting on the chassis was built backward. But, the chassis itself was still facing forward. Dave could probably shed some light on this. Anyway, if that's the case, you couldn't just switch it around on a whim.
Secondly, after Cedar Fair bought Paramount, they made everything forward facing again. They said they did this because it was the manufacturers recommendation. So, don't hold your breath on them turning around any PTC's anytime soon.
