Blue covers on some wheels?

I know some of you wont know what the heck I am talking about, but has anyone noticed that on some trains on certain rides, there are blue covers on the outside of the wheels? Like on Wicked Twister and Dragster for example..

I think I know what you're talking about. There are also wheel coverings on Raptor. I remember hearing a while ago how they are somehow supposed to help drain water or something like that. I think it was in one of the old OnPoint Blogs, like several years ago. A lot of B&M's have them.

I think those are to catch grease from the wheel bearings.

I believe the OP is referring to the actual blue wheels on the Intamin coasters. Not the wheel covers that Raptor has or Twister USED to have in 2002. From working Wicked Twister last year all season (2011), wheels would be replaced quite frequently on the train. We were told by maintenance that the blue wheels are made of different material, and if you get up close to them, you can tell the difference in material. The gray wheels are more squishy, the blue ones are more hard.

When the gray wheels start to go bad, they do what we call "web", meaning they look like a bunch of cob webs on the wheel bogies. The blue wheels are meant to last a lot longer and are less messy when they go bad basically. I think the blue looks pretty cool on WT because of the multiple color scheme of the train anyways.

I think you are right. I missed the comment about Dragster. It would not have covers to catch the grease as the wheels are below the riders.

Not a problem. I think the title of the thread was a bit misleading since they aren't covers. Anyways, that's what they are.
