Bigger than expected

I was in Sandusky today for the "A Day at Old Cedar Point" presentation at the Merry Go Round Museum. I drove to CP as well as Battery Park to see the park and the newest addition to the skyline.

I was amazed at how big WT truly is. I don't think looking on the web cams truly gives you any idea of the true height of this thing. From Battery Park, I could see that the spikes were much further apart than I expected, which means the horizontal track is longer than I imagined it would be.

You can't truly get a feel for how big WT is without seeing it in person. If you get the chance, I highly suggest a trip to Battery Park, the view is amazing.

Edit: Bring a pair of binoculars if you want a really close up view.

Yeah, The webcams really make the thing look small. It doesn't look that tall in the webcams (even though they do state it is over 200 feet) and it's footprint looks so small on the cam, even though I saw all the footers in October. When I stepped out of the car today and look at CP, it took me awhile to actually see WT at first because there was enough snow to make it hazy. Then it stopped snowing, and I was like WOW!. That thing is massive.

I was amazed at the size of Millennium Force's tunnels. HUGE. Pictures just never seem to do justice. WT is pretty amazing.

Those of you who saw CP yesterday, was Vertigo still there?? Its been a few weeks since I was in the park.
Yes they were still there. I personally think CP does not plan on removing Vertigo.

thats good to hear

Actually, I am hoping to see the towers disappear, temporarily that is. I am guessing the towers will be replaced. Otherwise, my life is in the hands of two towers placed under stress identical to that which cracked one.

Standing UNDER the tracks even before the last section (40'?) was attached I was shocked on how tall WT really is. It's going to rock, that's for sure!

...And with a twist! ;-)
and two of those 5 times will be backwards :)

I personally can't wait for the part that is going to stick you for about 1-2 seconds when your facing directly at the ground near the top of the reverse tower...The only the thing keeping you in from falling flat on your face from about 200 feet in the air is a nice harness...that's going to be awesome...I'm so excited...I can't wait to see this thing running...

Raptor_Rider,

If you're thinking of the brake like on the back tower of SUE at SFWoA I don't believe there is going to be one because of the back spike being twisty. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Brake or not, that rear section facing the ground will be intense!

I actually have never riden the ride at SFWoA...I have seen pics of it but I haven't ever ridden it...My family did once but I didn't go...I know the animation video on WT isn't the greatest, but it does look like you do stick for a second or two at the top of the reverse tower...I may be wrong and that may not happen at all...But it is true what MilleniumRider said "Brake or not, that rear section facing the ground will be intense! That is so true...

I Went by the park earlier today and saw WT and it looks HUGE.I mean a lot bigger than I expected I am so hyped I can;t wait to ride that son of a gun.
