BIG Things are Happening

The future of all the Cedar Fair parks is being decided as we speak. The general managers of each park are gathering today and tomorrow for a conference in the Breakers Conference Center. I cannot disclose anything about this meeting or anything I've heard or seen, as it is top secret, but perhaps its hope that we'll see some kind of an announcement from all the Cedar Fair parks soon regarding expansions! But there are indeed BIG things to come....

On another note...Britney Spears did show up today. Unfortunately I didn't get to see her or anything. Oh well.
That's good news! BTW, since Spears was there today did the DJs play most of her songs like usual?

Better watch, if you can't provide a video tape of the meeting, your post will be closed.
I was there, no one else was. Every ride was a walk on except Millennium Force. When I was on the Force they said they were not going to play any N'sync or Britney Spears

Rob, the "track" in the bone yard are PIPES for the Camper Village expansion. End of discussion. It's not a new ride. Forget it.

Interesting... as of 3 p.m. the marketing folks said she wasn't at the park. And since she had a show tonight, the earliest she could get back to Cleveland was 6 p.m. if she spent only an hour in the park and rush hour didn't exist. Not to mention that all of her tour buses were in place when I left work (I park in the gargage attached to the hotel she's staying in) and the kids waiting at the hotel would most certainly have seen her leave.

Cedar Fair execs gather all of the time. That's hardly news. You can't disclose anything because you don't know anything. Executives don't share long term goals with seasonals (unless you're the Lemon Chill guy). Capital improvement plans for next year are old news by now, even if we don't know what they are. Be careful what you post... they're on to you, and not in a good way if you intend to return next year.

As far as announcements go, Talon was announced for Dorney (though we all knew it was coming anyway because of the request for a zoning variance). We know that Cedar Point is building an up-scale addition to the campground along with a lot of infrastructure improvements. We know Knott's is forever messing with Perilous Plunge, and the popular theory is that a big hyper is next in a few years. No idea what's going on at Vallyfair, but I wouldn't get excited about anything big, ditto for World's of Fun.

It's budget time right about now for most businesses who work on the traditional calendar, especially something like a chain of mostly seasonal parks. They're going to talk dollars and goals. After all, last week's unitholders' meeting approved the new compensation system for the key management, and their income depends on it.

Jeff.. I just loved your post ( I am sure the Lemon Chill guy did too) :)
Rats! All this time I thought it was the Dippin' Dots guy that got the inside scoop.
