As of Sunday, pop was still $2/pop. I presume the price was the same in the credit card machines, but now that I think about it, I don't think I saw a price on those...
As I recall, didn't CP boost the vend price to $2.50 last summer for a while, only to see a dramatic drop in sales?

You would be surprised at how many people pay those two dollars just because they need to take an Aspirin or eat a cookie with. You would be surprised how many "thank you" I get just for informing them that water is free at the food stands.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I recall some kind of a price difference last year too.. Don't remember the numbers.

Looking for me?? Take a guess where you'll find me...
Hey, I saw those credit-card operated Dixie-Narco Pepsi machiines recently! Rumor has it that CP's getting Coke next year :)
When do they get Credit Card lockers? And skee-ball???
When deciding whether two dollars is too much for a pop or not, remember that there is a difference between many of you and myself. Many of you live in Ohio, have season passes to Cedar Point, and make many trips a year. I would find it hard to pay $2.00 a pop if I went to the park once every week or every other week or even four of five times a year. That would get awfully expensive. However, I have not been to Cedar Point yet this year. My MF count is 0 and I will not make my first trip to the park for the season until the last operating Saturday (October 14) with my family. For me, walking around the park all day and buying a couple of sodas at two dollars each isn't a huge deal, but for people who go there more regularly, money would definately become an issue.
In example, the money for food and drinks definately became sort of an issue when I went to Disney and Universal Studios Florida this summer. I spent six days in theme parks and it definately got expensive. However, I had saved up money the year before and ended up coming home with money left over. Luckily, I went to the park expecting the high prices.
By the way, thanks for your above comment Jeff.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

if i dont remember to pack a cooler, i usually try to get into sandusky for supper, mainly to avoid crowded food stands and either way, soak city lot works great to make this possible
Yes, at the beginning of last year there WAS a price hike of $2.50, but after a sharp decrease in pop sales, the prices were promptly put back where they should be.

Credit card lockers... Busch Gardens Williamsburg has these, and they offer unlimited access all day long. Very cool!

I like IOAs approach to lockers... since they make you get a locker to ride, its free. I was serious about the CC lockers though. I didn't know they had them anywhere yet.
Back on topic, just stop drinking pop. Go with Scott and get the free agua. Your body will thank you for it in the long run.
I miss the word pop. Everyone up here says soda. Ugh, and they look at me like I'm carrying a chainsaw and have a tattoo of a rabid monkey on my forehead when I say "pop."
I hate pop, by the way, so the prices don't concern me. Also........nevermind.

We were at the park Sunday and were discussing the drink machines. As much as it seems to be to buy a coke, we must remember that when we enter ANY establishment, be it sports arena, an amusement park, or movie theatre, we know in ADVANCE that we will be gouged (sp?). Fair? No. Reality? You bet. That is why I only drink water at the park, and it is generally free at the food stands. (I refuse to pay $2.00 for a bottle of water that I have to throw away before I get on a ride...) My father always puts a big cooler in the trunk with drinks and sandwhiches. If we get hungry or thirsty to the point where we want a coke or a beer, we just go out to the car and fill our need and reenter the park. ;)
What does amaze me is the amount of KIDS using credit cards at the park... when I was 15, my dad would have NEVER trusted me with a credit card...

In comparison to Six Flags St. Louis pop prices of $3.75 Cedar Point really isn't that bad off. As for teenagers carrying credit cards, with the current economy there is a ton of teenagers making quite a bit. However, I don't think I could even trust myself with a credit card. Its just too tempting.
Teen credit cards are either check cards tied to a checking account or the accounts of their parents. Teens can't get credit through a credit card company. There are some programs where parents sign for the card and put a certain amount in there for pre-set spending.

Backstreet Girl, move to Southwestern PA. You won't hear the word "soda" ever again... without it being followed by, "It's 'pop', not 'soda'!"

How dare you vanquish the Steel Phantom without his consent? Fear the Phantom's Revenge.
At SFO the prices have been reduced during Oktoberfest from 2.75 a 20 oz to 2.00. The price was reduced in conection to the lower beer prices for the event and just stayed down for the rest of the season. (It gets cold and sales drop, also Coke has a hard time in taking back product)
Also the beer thing. I know for a fact that beer prices at some parks (said CP eastern neighbor)are kept high to deter drunkeness. But some persist.
Jeff- I'm 16, and I can get a credit card if I had a job. Only a $200 limit until I'm 18 though.
I'm originally *FROM* western PA Lynch. Where do ya think I *got* the word "pop" from? Hehe.
Unfortunately I go to school here in Boston. Bet you've never heard of Moxie...oh, you don't want to.

Natalie...last year at the PPPPP my parents bought a case of Moxie. It took about six months to drink it all. It doesn't taste bad, but it has a very strong aftertaste which makes a chaser almost necessary.
For the uninitiated, Moxie is essentially a root beet, but instead of being extracted from sassafras root (root beer) or birch root (birch beer), it is extracted from gentian root. By contrast, the two leading soft drinks are extracted from cola nuts and from some part of the coca plant. Moxie no longer makes any medicinal claims, but it certainly does no harm to the digestive system.

I was lucky(?) enough to try Moxie when I was out at the ACE Regional event at Lake Compounce this past July. Smooth going down but with cough medicine aftertaste. Definitely an acquired taste. Now here's the question, does the coaster community's resident Moxie pusher drink it regularly or does he just bring it along so he can watch out-of-towners experience it for the first time?? :)
