Better with age?

Does it seem that certain rides get bumpier or rougher with age? Although I still love them, I've heard some folks say that they think Mean Streak and Magnum are not worth riding anymore because the ride gets rougher every year.

Is it the track, trains, certain manufacturers, sunspots, carbohydrates, or some other issue?

i agree that Magnum is getting more rough every year, but saying its not worth riding is absurd! it is a great wooden coaster! ;)

No i wasn't ;) ok so i was, but Meanstreak is a fun coaster, and it is a great wooden coaster, and Magnum needs to be alot more rough to be considered not ride-able or enjoyable.

Not sure, but I think Mean Streak is supposed to be rough. And while Magnum is a bit rougher these days, anybody who says it is too rough to ride should be slapped.

I don't know if Magnum is getting rougher or I'm just getting older. : ) It's still a blast but I can't ride it repeatedly without asprin.

I think that with the old technology, rides get bumpier and rougher as they get older.....but, I can never see MF getting bumpy because of the new technology. That's just my theory but the only way to find out is wait......ahhhhhhh.......waiting.......man have we been doing this a LLLLOOONNNNNNGGGGG time. After going to the park during Coastermania and waiting three whole days for TTD to open I can not stand that word.

i know how you feel TopThrill, i waited and waited to find out what those footer were gonna be and what that track was gonna be, then it was RCT2 coming out and more construction on those said footers, then i got my season pass for christmas, and then i was wating for what they are going to finally call that ride, then i had to wait till april to see it in person when i processed my pass, and then i had to wait till May 13th to get my first ride on it! i hate waiting! hehe

back on topic, i don't think the MFer is going to get rough as the years go by, the track is different and the way the train rides on the track is also very different, and there isn't much space between the top wheels and the upstop wheels on the MFer, therfore hopefully negating aging steel getting rough and worse then in previous years.

I totally disagree with you guys who are saying Magnum is getting rougher. I've been riding it since it opened and I haven't noticed any change in the riding quality.

I don't think it's the fact that Magnum is getting rougher, I think it's more the fact that other rides in the park are a lot smoother. Before Millennium Force debuted, Magnum was considered one of the smoothest rides in the park, especially for its age. But then Millennium Force arrived and we all knew how that felt. Then after that came Top Thrill Dragster.

When you guys say it's rough, I think you are simply comparing it to the newer and smoother rides. Magnum is not rough. Compare it to some of the hypers of its day and you will see that.

Well i have been riding Magnum along time and it seem to got more rough each year. yeah it is alot more rough then the MFer, but i still thought it was a little rough before we got a good Intamin coaster, with a track! lol
