Hey I am making my first trip up there tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone could give me some easy directions on getting there. I live mins away from I90 so if one of you could help me out that would be great. Also do you know of any cheap hotels around there too?

I90 --> OH 2 --> I-280N --> 75 N --> 275N --> I-96 W --> US31 N --> Russel Rd Exit
Basically take I 90 west, and follow OH 2 all the way to 280 in Oregon. Get on 280 and take it to 75 north. Follow 75 north to 275. Follow 275 to 96. Make sure you get on 96 west and not east. The 96 east exits come up well before the 96 west exits. 96 will take you through Lansing, Grand Rapids and to Muskegon where you'll get on 31 North at about mile marker 1 or 2. There's also a US131 in Grand Rapids. Don't get on that.
Once you get to the Russel Rd exit, it's fairly easy to find your way.
The cheapest hotel other than the mom and pop types is the days inn just up the road. I stayed there a few weeks back and paid $85 a night for a double.
I wasn't the greatest place out there but it was a bed and a shower.
The name of the place is Michigan'S Adventure (no S). As in the state or the people of Michigan own the adventure.
I've decided to make it a new goal in life to make people say it right. So far I have one radio station and hopefully the people reading this down! :)

If you want to avoid the western suburbs of Detroit and the potential drudgery of Rt 2 between Port Clinton and Oregon, I suggest..
I-80/90 --> I-280N --> I-75 S --> I-475 W -> US-23 N --> I-96 W --> US31 N --> Russel Rd Exit
Not sure how you feel about it, but this route will take you through Ann Arbor ;)

Thank you very much I hope I find this ok. About how long does it take to get there? Also is there any good dance clubs my buddys are wanting to go to one. One other question I have is Shivering Timber still nice and smooth? I hope it is I heard many great things about that.

The park is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so my guess is you'd have to drive a ways if you're looking to find any clubs or anything of that nature.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Don't take Ben's way. That's way out of the way. Scott's is better, but I take the turnpike west to Maumee (US 20), and then follow the signs "around the corner" to US 23. Even with the bypass routes open now, I still think it's faster because you don't have to deal with Toledo directly.

Okay, go up 23. Have fun with the entire tore up section between Ann Arbor and Brighton. ;)

If it's any consolation, I live at Exit 104 off I-96 and have taken both routes to Sandusky. Both take approximately the same amount of time. I take 127S to I-94 over to US23 right now, mostly because I fill up with E-85 in North Toledo. You can get away with faster speeds on I-275 (I made it from Metro Airport to my work at the 98A exit (90 miles approx) in 1 hour when I was in a hurry once back in May.

We went through there on I475 and US-23 south and there was construction all over the place. We had probably 1-1.5 hours of downtime.
I live about 30 minutes south of Michigans Adventure. There isn't a whole lot to do in Muskegon besides get shot at, or go to the Heritage Landing at the waterfront for beer tent action.

Just another idea. Take 80/90 all the way to South Bend, IN and catch US-31 North all the way to Muskegon. You avoid any big cities this way, and the only real slowdown you will have is the 20 miles or so where 31 isn't expressway.
It takes me just under 2 hrs to get to MiA from South Bend, so Im guessing about 5 hrs from Sandusky. Less if you speed ;)

And if you go that way, make sure you take it easy on the US-31 that isn't freeway.
The cops around Grand Haven LOVE speeders.

Although I haven't been pulled over there, I can understand how it could be a easy target for cops. It's so hard to get used to going 45 from light to light when you have been on at 70 mph expressway for the majority of the trip.

Yep. Although the stretch between Holland and GH is 55, it slows down to 45 then 35 going through town.

If they come from I96W they will end up in Muskegon, and they will be able to go i96 to 31. Which will be the Sternberg area.
They won't have to go through grand haven / holland traffic unless they come from 196.
Grand Haven police have a large police budget with barely any crime. Which forces them to write tickets all day for anything. The town is very rich so they get a lot of tax dollars.
They had a millage go through for $400,000 for extra policing in Ottawa County before the summer ,which was completely uncalled for.

Your route, and you see how close myself and the other fella from Hudsonville is in the equation. The black box is "ottawa county" (maybe not accurate), but the cops in Ottawa county in general are bad. *** Edited 8/10/2007 11:06:05 PM UTC by factory81***
You are going to want to go to Grand Rapids for some clubs. About a 20 minute drive... Great clubs! Worth the drive trust me! GRAND RAPIDS (just like the newest ride at Mich Ad)

That route would normally be faster but US 23 is under construction and down to one lane north of ann arbor. 75 to 275 may be longer but you avoid the backups on 23, and believe me they get really bad.
^^ Grand Rapids is 50 miles from MiA. I don't think you could do that in 20 minutes.
To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"
Unless, of course, you were able to go 150mph!
My mathematical reasoning:
50mi / 20min = 2.5 mi/min
60min per hr * 2.5 mi per min = 150mph
Hopefully the reasoning is sufficient. Anyway, good luck going 150 on any surface streets.
Edit: Yeah, US-23 is pretty bad there. We headed down to Ann Arbor from Flint a few weeks ago and it is slow-moving through there. Take I-275 to I-75, you'll get to see our Ikea, if you're into that sort of thing. Haha.
