From PKI, you're only a couple of miles from IR-75, and going up I-75 is really a more direct route to get to Cedar Point...Columbus is actually out of your way. On the map, the most direct route if you ignore the few miles between PKI and I-75 is to take I-75 to OH-12 to US-6. I don't know how *long* that takes, though. It cuts a nice diagonal across Northern Ohio, though.
From PKI to my house, which is only a block from I-71, is 90 minutes. From my house to Cedar Point is 130 minutes via IR-71 to Polaris to US-23 to OH-4.
The reason behind using US-23 and OH-4 instead of going I-71 to US-250 is that the combination of US-23, OH-98, and OH-4 forms a perfectly straight line from Columbus to Sandusky. Going up to US-250 adds about fifteen unnecessary miles to the trip.
Taking US-23 to OH-4 instead of going up OH-98 adds one mile to the trip, but that is probably made up for by the fact that between OH-98 and OH-4, US-23 is 65 mph while OH-98 (past the infamous River Valley High School and through Kirkpatrick) is 55 mph.
