Best Lighting

Which ride (not coaster) has the best lighting at night? I would have to say the Monster.

Which coaster (not ride) has the best lighting at night? On this one I have to go with MF. What do you guys think?

I thought of this question while sitting watching the amazing lighting of the coasters from my deck on Sunday night.

2002 Totals: | MF:35 | WT:20 | Maggie:75 |Gemini:50 | DT:25 | Raptor: 30 | Beaver net 4.0!

I'm definatly going with the Power Tower....It has an Amazing light display at night.

for my coaster it would definatly be the MF...lovin' those lights.

I'd have to go with MF also, especially the rainbow sequence. I'm out on the bay at night, passing by CP when returning from one of the islands, and the light show is just spectacular. The view from the park just doesn't do it justice.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I have to agree with Power Tower and MF. I love the way PT changes color at night, and the rainbow effect of MF's supports

I'd have to go with PT and MF. Love the Green and Purple lights.

MF and PT. I like when each separate head (not each support, there are around 4-8 heads per support) strobes it white so that the supports appear to glimmer.

On a side note: Why aren't the coasters at SFWOA lit? I guess that's just another small aspect that makes CP the best and WoA...well...not

I like MF's lighting as well as Mean Streak's. Mean Streak is such an awesome looking coaster, and the flood lights really make it look oustanding.

Power Tower also has some cool looking lights.

I was wondering if anyone had any desktop wallpaper quality photos of MF lift hill at night lit that they could share w/ me. I had my first nighttime ride on MF last Saturday, what a tremendous experience. I loved seeing the lift hill in all its pastel colors. Thanks in advance

This is Walt's (Gemini) site and is the only night one I know of.

I could just stand and watch Power Tower, and be perfectly happy. I was in awe during my last visit (1999).

Do the PT and MF lights remain on all night? Do they light the coasters during the off-season?

When I was there last month, I was taking pictures of the CP skyline from downtown Sandusky at 1:30 in the morning! With some low clowds that were lit from the lights and a light breeze from the lake, I could stay there all night (it looked very cool). Too bad my camera didn't meter right (I had some over-exposed spots)

I wouldn't want their power bill. Especally with the wattages of those lamps. But it is very pretty to look at. I think it is worth it.

The lights on the rides and coasters are on until 3 or 4am (I think) each night .
I will have to agree with Monster having some good lighting. It can make for some really great looking pictures, like the night motion picture in the gallery here. For coasters, I like the lighting that is on both Raptor and WT.

I beleive the lighting in the park turns off in periodic instances. Different areas and rides lights turn off at different times.

I had my first trip to a non-CP park this spring which was SFWOA, and we stayed all night. Walking back toward the park from the fireworks the skyline where the roller coasters was all dark. Couldnt see anything but the Ferris Wheel. Anyways, me and my other half were wondering that too, why they dont light them. It would make them so much better. I personally feel you shouldnt even build a ride without lights. Im a light person hehe. ANyways. That and many other factors tought me my lesson on being a Cedar Point traitor. I wont go anywhere else again.

How can anyone even consider PT? The lighting on that hasn't worked properly for ...what 3 yrs? When it was new it was awesome! Now it's just a problem that is probably on the list with the paint jobs. :)

This past season, I finally got to see the rides at night in person. I have to say that both Millennium Force and Power Tower were spectacular to look at. I almost thought that Power Tower was more better to look at than the Summer Spectacular. However I noticed that the lights were out of sync on Power Tower.

"Millennium Force, the Future is riding on it."
Now, Cedar Point is "Bulding for the future."
Coincidence?

Candy Man- I haven't been to Cedar Point since 1999. That's what...three years ago?

4 Years actually, which brings back the whole "0" year and screws everything up.

I would have to say best lights on a coaster: MF

best lights on a ride: PT

Millenium Force has lights in the loading station the entire time it is open as well! These lights just accent the wonderful ride. Great lights for an even greater rollercoaster.
