Being a screamster

I was just wondering during halloweekends do you work every weekend, everyday from open to close or are they more flexible with the hours? And What is starting pay I have been wanting to apply but I also like to go with my friends during halloweekends.

Well first of all, it seems that they are done hiring for this year. But definitely keep it in mind when July comes around!

To answer some of your questions, they are usually as flexible as they can be. You get to pick your own makeup time, which is anywhere between 4-7:30 for the outdoor zones. I'm not sure exactly what the earliest times are for the houses because they work different hours. If you need a day or weekend off for something it's usually not a problem as long as you tell them in the interview or as early as you can, although taking days off so you can play in the park is usually frowned upon.

Some Screamsters work in the park from open till close, although most don't. They usually have positions available in a couple of different departments if you do want to work during the day. Otherwise, you don't need to be there until about 30 minutes before your makeup time and can play in the park up until then.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

as ralph said the hours are somewhat flexible. given that the season is so short, only around 17 days (didn't count, rough guess, its not long) they like people who can be there for all of it, but if you have to miss one day and told them up front they are pretty accepting. Like he mentioned with the hours. once you're in makeup you're on the clock so if you are free saturdays at 4 and pick that as your makeup, you're paid from 4-12 for that day, but say you have another job you can pick something like 7 and get paid 7-12.

Honestly I'd do it for free, the pay always covered gas and I'd treat myself with something nice with the rest, but I would have done it for free. the stories and friends far outweigh the money involved. In the past they were more flexible about missing the sunday's but since they are going to more and more sunday work days for the outdoor zones I'm sure they are cutting down on the allowing people to miss. Used to be only 1 sunday and they just keep adding more.

as far as the end of the night everybody comes in at midnight and it takes around half an hour to get out of makeup (removing the mask and then fighting people to get a spot near a sink to clean up) sometimes it goes fast, and sometimes they'll sign everybody out at a certain time. Usually you're out by 1 or at least clocked out by then. sometimes people stay longer despite being off the clock because its easier than trying to fight through traffic.
