Been to any other Cedar fair park?

What was your opinions of the park and and in general is the park as well run as CP?
I went to Dorney this past summer. It was like being at a smaller version of CP. The park was clean, the staff was friendly, and the rides were great, especially Talon. I can see why they keep putting up good numbers.

I went to MIA this summer. Oh my God was that place sterile. It was like a hospital room. So unnaturally pretty looking. It was frightningly like Cedar Point at times, even right down to the fences, banners, and trashcans on the midway and the seatbelts on Timbers.

*We're getting screwed in the rear two coasters in a row.

I've been to MIA. Next season I'm planning on going to Dorney.

Yes i was there at MIA. a small park i would have to say. but since CF just bought the park, what else can i expect right and since it was free with my CP pass, no complaints. me and the wife had a good time. rode everything in about an hour, but we had a good time. will wait and see what improvements CF will have going on for this park.

If your not having fun, what are you having?

I went to MiA in 2001, just after Cedar Fair purchased it, specifically so I could take note of the changes and to ride Shivering Timbers.

This season, I saw some good things. New fencing was added/replaced, and lots of "cosmetic" changes were made, along with the completion of Be Bop Blvd and the addition of go karts , Rip Cord and a Train.

They added some tables with umbrellas for some shade. A few years ago, a major storm ripped through the area and destroyed a good portion of the existing trees.

I think the "sterile" look is because of the large lake in the middle, the wide center midway and no trees. These should be improved in time.

I hope to visit Dorney next season, and am keeping my fingers crossed for a trip to CA for Knotts and SFMM

Dorney is like little Cedar Point, no doubt about it. I really dig that park and can't wait to go back. Talon owns Raptor.

I went to Michigan's Adventure the last year, prior to its Cedar Fair-ization. It was such an ugly park. Corkscrew was like an above-ground basement and landscaping more or less didn't exist. Shivering Timbers is a great ride though, and it's nice to have a mouse at any park.

I finally got to Dorney this year (day after PPP) and yes, it's a miniature Cedar Point. Although, they may have more trash cans ;). It was clean, friendly employees, decent to good rides (Talon was excellant), and good food. Can't wait to go back with my family next year. Now to get to MIA...

VF - 20 minutes from home and on the way to the in-laws. I have a love/hate relationship with this park because I am far too fixated on B&M steel. This relationship is punctuated with tantrums whenever they spend big cap dollars on a new ride that isn't a B&M invert, followed by the return of sanity and fawning all over whatever they picked instead.

I'll shut up complaining for all time the minute they build me a wavepool.

DP - my favorite of the bunch. It's got enough of the good stuff for an amusement park and a large, free waterpark to boot. As close to perfect CF as I've seen.

MA - right up there IMHIO because wavepools are very, very important to me. The amusement side is tiny but has as many family coasters as CP.

CP - Big and crowded and I've always left a little upset this year. Then I recount how many coasters I've been on and realize the only reason I'm mad is that I didn't have the park to myself.

I keep saying I'll stop by WOF someday, but have yet to do it. I could say 'maybe this spring', but I've said that too many times already.

Did the Knott's thing before CF took over. I loved that park (basically grew up in it) and I am concerned that it might have lost some of its charm. I hope not.

I was pretty impressed with ValleyFair on my visit there. Well-run park.

I've got to be the only person who did *NOT* feel like Dorney was "a little CP". But I will adapt Mr. Darling's exposition of MA for DP. I really expected a nurse to come up to me and ask for a piss sample it was so sterile. I thought the place had no soul (though the big clock was cool). Cedar Point on the other hand has soul (not Soul Train soul mind you, but 10 o'clock mass soul). The rapids ride was demented though :)

I went to Knotts so long before the CF conversion, I dont even think it is pertinent to discuss.

I guess I'll agree with you on that point, Jeremy (gasp!), but I think you get that vibe from the main midway only. It's just too new. Between the (relatively) new midway enclosure, Talon and the landscaping, it's like it was built yesterday, and has no history. Some of the shops just up the midway, with all of their primary colors, don't help.

Well, if not the main midway, then what *is* Cedar Point like? Perhaps it is also a function of the day I went (CoasterMadness; very light crowds) but there was no "hectic-ness" or "frenzy" that I associate with CP. Even the rides themselves were devoid of this vibe. At CP, if you walk twelve steps you'll trip over a ride/coaster. At DP if you walk twelve steps all you'll trip over is trash cans :).

Now I wasn't so blind as to not notice the naming pattern, but remember, I'm a Six Flags Brat so that comes as *no* suprise. Dorney to me was it's own animal. Not a pet I would take home, but an alley cat that can come around once in a while.

Well considering I live in Missouri and I worked at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, i guess I've been to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. They seem to be okay parks, although Oceans could use some work, it's pretty small. I loved working at CP this past summer, so I actually only got to go to WOF once before I left to move to CP. I think that they could use some more rides, i mean come on CP has soooo many coasters and WOF has 5, and that includes the Wacky worm. Its where i've grown up so maybe thats just what i think. I know its a lot smaller than CP but it needs to have something. I guess thats just my opinion. :)

The only CF park I've been to other than CP was MIA. Almost got to Dorney last summer, but the family landed me at Hershey instead.

I went to MIA on their closing day, and the park was empty. I simply passed that "sterile" feeling off on the fact that it was closing day, the weather was crappy, and there was no one there.

Although small, it is a decent park. I thought the lake added a certain kind of charm to the park, it wouldn't have felt right if there was a large midway where the lake was. Shivering Timbers is an amazing coaster and was packed with some massive airtime, even though Kara assured me it wasn't running up to par that day. They definately have a lot of room to expand and become even better

I went to Michigan's Adventure a LOT when I was growing up. . . I remember going and getting sunburned, since the main point of going was the water rides. There is SO much water stuff to do. . .its nice to do the coasters/attractions right in the middle of the day, when its the sunniest, and then go and do all the water stuff the rest of the afternoon. I remember all of the different water slides, water slides with tubes, speed slides, 'lazy river,' kids water area, wave pool -- the list really doesn't end. I loved it. I'm sure it's a lot better now that CF owns it, because I do remember it seeming like it was kind of . . . like. . . "community center." If that makes sense. But I do love it, and my friends and I go every year. It's nice.

There comes a time in every man's life where he has to break down and marry a roller coaster -- please let 2003 be that time.
The only other CF park I've been to besides Cedar Point is World's of Fun and Oceans of Fun. It seems like no one on these boards besides Teenie Weenie and I have been to WOF. I go there about every year and another new park the same summer. And I do agree that it needs more "stuff" in it, and I think they should take out the Orient Express and put in a B&M of some sort. I have a weird relationship with B&M's, if a park doesn't have one I'm mad lol(not literally but you know what I mean....), and if they do yeah I get excited. I'm planning on going to Dorney next year!
I went to MiA this past summer, and I got as far as the parking lot in 2000 until my dad decided it was toocold (closing day). It's a good little park, but it needs 2 things: Trees and Food. My mom complained like crazy during lunch time. Since I complained the whole time at about SFWoA (compared to CP), She complained at MiA (compared to SFWoA) to get me back, and food was the major complaint. But Trees and Food and I'll be happy (And get rid of that damn song!)

I went to dorney park this summer on a hot summer day in august. i remember going there in high school, but this was the first time i remember being there since at least 94. things i noticed different. EVERYTHING! The trees were gone in alot of places, the stores were like cp moved to allentown pa, the talon really is a better version of the raptor. I was astounded by the changes that i saw since the last time i went there. ps the last time i was there, wildwater kingdom and dorney park had a parking lot separating them and required diffenent tickets to get in. i love dp and i love cp now if i can only get to cali and see kbf my life would be complete.
