For all you campers that like to stay at the bayshore estates campground, you may have to pay a bit more now. The campground is now run by K.O.A.

And that means that the rates have probaly gone up as well.

This is kind of a bummer for me. We like to camp, and always have at this campground because it was so cheap.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

It was a KOA for the 2008 season as well. For us I think it was a 20% increase in our nightly stay in our popup (it was $18 a night and went to $22 a night, prices were from closing weekend).

I thought Bayshore was dirt cheap camping, and honestly I still thought it was worthwhile camping with the price increase considering gas prices at the time. I don't think the cabins went up all that much.

The cabins did see an increase in 2008 depending on the week you were interested. We were originally going to stay in a cabin in June, but the rates jumped to about 300+ for 3 nights. We just decided to tent camp instead. I still think it is a great value and you can't really beat the location for the price. However we did stay in one of the cabins for closing weekend and I think it was $100, plus tax for 2 nights. Since staying there 2 years ago, we always forgo the hotels for Bayshore, KOA or not.

Best bang for the buck in terms of cost for lodging.

Running water did taste funny, and the train is a bit noisy. But it is the cheapest....

Beds were not too comfortable either.

But we paid like $40 opening weekend....

It's been a KOA since late 2oo7, I believe. Prices went up a couple of bucks for cabins, but the name is the same, so I wouldn't say it "is no more".

However, you'd better not carry on a conversation in a reasonable tone, lest ye be cast from the premises by the douchebag of security.

Whatever the kids 3 cabins over are doing, it'll get blamed on the responsible adults, I promise. :another facepalm:

KOA = Krappiest of America...

That being said, there are several campgrounds on Marblehead - which offer STUNNING views of the bay, lake and Cedar point... For the 10 or so minute drive it is far more worth it in my opinion.

Marblehead is at least a half hour from CP. KOA is a simple 5 minute drive so I'll trade the view for the convienence.

With that said, you have given me an idea on a CP-less trip in the future, those campgrounds look beautiful! I'm pretty sure I could con the wife into centering our camping trip around Brown's Dairy Dock and their strawberry or peach sundaes.
