Cant you walk or ice skate across the frozen bay and walk onto the point, or better yet get better pictures?
Ever meet the Coast Guard? I suppose you could, but with the recent warm temperatures, that ice isn't very safe. Not that there is such a thing as safe ice. Ask the three young men who were rescued off of Port Clinton last week.

Ice fishing, ice boating, etc. does occur on the bay and lake. Walt is right though, the ice can be very dangerous, and unless you know what you are doing, I would stay off it. A few years ago, a well known ice fishing guide was killed at Put-In-Bay when he fell through the ice. So even the pros get into trouble. Even if you walk across the ice, it doesn't change the fact that CP is private property and construction areas are dangerous areas to outsiders. I'm sure the CP Police will be talking to you if you try it.
On the other hand, if you boat your way along the inside shore in April... ;)
