Anyone know if Banshee was originally going to have the same color scheme it ended up as, as Mantis?
Just curious if there were any press releases showing off the colors or saying what colors it was going to have and if they were the same red/yellow/bluish purple or not.
Also when was the ride originally announced as Banshee and when was the name changed?
Sorry if it's been covered already...but I searched and didn't find anything.
Year 1995 http://pointbuzz.com/history.htm
Changed its name after 5 days. I think the colors were the same though.
Here is a pic of the logo. http://www.tour-the-point.com/Banshee.jpg It has the same colors as the track does now so the colors are probably the same.
Its about 1/2 way down the page.

Thanks for the reply...I had no idea how fast the name changed.
They should really bring back the name for another ride(even at another park in the chain)...by today's standards I'm sure it would be fine.

I heard that the reason they changed the name was because of the definition. A banshee is, in mythology, a female spirit that wails around a house where someone's about to die, not something they wanted to associate with a thrill ride. I think it was one of the names discussed for the Steel Phantom as well, but they let Pittsburghers vote on it and they went with SP.
Thanks for the diagram, I was actually hoping to find a good overall layout shot of Mantis like that.
^^Thats what its says in one of my links.

TTD, I thought I'd read that through someone's link on here, but couldn't remember. Good info.
