Backpacks

I'm making my first visit to the park on the 20th. I was reading the thread about the high price of soda and was wondering the parks stance on backpacks? Normally I lug in water and snacks for the kids. I'm use to being searched but generally get in most parks. My question is how is the Point? will I be able to bring in my own water or will they stop me? TIA for any info

Kath

I've never had my backpack searched at CP.

bag searches do occur at random... (mostly weekends)

many legal items are allowed in. bag checks are generally searching for illegal items or items that may comprimise guest safety.

Most of the time when they do search, they just ask you to open it and glance in. If you've got stuff on top, they probably won't even bother to check underneath it. At least that's the experience I've had at WDW and other places. Unless you look seriously shady, that is... :)

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

Thanks for the info on bag checks. I'm a little surprised that they don't check like all the other parks. It looks like all have no problem bringing water and treats for the kids with me. Can't wait to get there.

Just keep in mind, on most thrill rides now, backpacks are not allowed to ride with you. So either plan on bringing a bunch of dollar bills for the lockers, or have a non-rider hold it while you ride.

Once they made me throw away my bottle of Ice Tea, or else i wasnt allowed in the park.

No outside unsealed beverages are allowed. At least, thats what I was told when I did Admissions for a few hours last summer.

Be thankful they aren't anal about searching bags at Cedar Point. During my first visit to Knott's in 2003, I had to carry in all my lugguage. They had to go through all my clothing and personal items which I had packed for my weekend trip.

They're even worse at Six Flags Magic Mountain (But thankfully I haven't had to take lugguage into the park there.) I guess its understandable, however, due to the recent fight there.

It's something I've been generally thankful for, however. Cedar Point is very lax about what they let into the park.
