Back to school....

Curious as to what date kids in Ohio go back to school. State wide in Michigan kids go back the day after Labor Day and was wondering if Ohio has anyhing like it. I think that they start earlier because there is always radio spots for CP around here advertising a good time for Michiganders to go because the park is less busy as school is in session. We typically make our trip the end of June but havent made reservations yet due to scheduling conflicts and trying to figure out when would be a good time to do. Your input is appreciated!

We always camp at Camper Village and only familiar with the weather there in June. Now knowing that the weather is rather unpredictable, would one say it is better or worse camping end of August? We have both froze and sweat our behinds off in June!

It's August. You won't freeze. But it'll be anywhere from comfortably warm to downright hot and sticky.

I live in NE Ohio and my 1st day back is Wed. August 21st which is a week earlier than my school district usually starts. But at least we'll end earlier next year, before Memorial day even. This summer will suck since we don't end until Thursday, June 13th and we'll have to start earlier than usual.

Let me pose this question....my husband said no way to a trip at the end of August because the park closes earlier. If you have been to the park at the end of August would you say that it would still be worth it because the park is less busy which would equal less wait time allowing for more ride time compensating for the park closing earlier?!?

We have gone on weekdays during the period in August when Ohio schools are back, and it wasn’t nearly as busy as the peak season. It was still busy and by no means an empty park, but no worse than a typical early June day that I have experienced. But one never knows. I would go both times and buy a platinum pass for early entry each visit.

I've gone in the end of August, even on weekends, and crowds weren't too bad. It's definitely manageable. Is the park empty? No. Is the park packed? No. You still may have to wait in some lines, but nothing out of the ordinary. Usually I can get on Dragster in 30 minutes. I wouldn't go during that time if I thought it was too busy. I guess it's just a matter of personal preferences, but I really don't think it's bad.
