Back in the Day...

I remember just about 15 months ago when GTTP was merely a UBB and there were very few members. You know, when people didn't butcher the English language, and we weren't provided all these amenities Jeff has given us.

I just wanted to know the screen names of the first members if they have changed.

I used to be CPgenius, which is what I am over at Coasterbuzz.

Is bodyin_thelagoon still around?
I may not post very much but I have been here at least since the site was www.rollercoaster.net (I think thats the name) And have yet to change my name.

Jeff is there anyway that you could list all of past urls of the site?

I have been coming to this site since the July 17th 1999. That was my second trip to the Po!nt. When we arrived we saw some tree trimmers, and a couple of guys using the laser to measure for footers, on our way around the premitter road. I didn't give it any thought until I got home later that night. So I did some searching on the internet and found GTTP, then read about a rumor of a new coaster. I didn't start using the forums till about November of 99. *** This post was edited by B-Town on 1/12/2001. ***

That URL is now history. It just wasn't recognizable as something obvious like guidetothepoint.com, which was actually suggested by one of the members.

Interesting ??
I THINK I started posting in mid '98. This site btw has been awesome for me, I have met SOO many friends/fellow CP freaks from here I cant even begin to count them all. If one more person at CP asked me "are you LuvRaptor?" I would have screamed!! Thanks again Jeff!! =)

This makes my 432nd post!!

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Well, I started at the beginning of my freshman year at school when I got back from my summer job at CP, which would've been September of '99. Was the site even around in mid '98, Jeff? It was rather primitive when I first started posting, IIRC..

Oh, and I guess this would be post #412 for me? Hehe. Wow, I have a lot to say yanno!

Nat: The site opened in April of 1998. The forums didn't appear until early '99, using UBB. It was back in the old days when good and free BB's didn't exist. Of course, the only good forum system out there now is POP Forums. ;) I'll get the new version up here some day...

I've been coming to this site since 1998. I've never posted as many messages as some others, but every once in awhile I have something to say. My original screen name is as it is now. Natas

Dan when did you get rid of airtime205?
When he decided he was cool enough to just need his first name like Madonna.

I can see the resemblence. Hey Jeff, in your wedding tape, does Dan "VOGUE" at all? :)

I switched name about half way through the '99 season when I was in the middle of 801 season. If you go through the old news posts you can see items with my old screen name.

I came here a few weeks after closing day 1999 season. Looking for pics. I never thought I would learn so much about all the companies out there and what makes a great coaster. But thanks to GTTP and coasterbuzz I did. I do remember seeing links to the old forum and old page. When I came here these forums we have now were already up. And yes Jeff I do agreee POP forums are the best of all I have seen.

I found the GTTP around Jan/Feb of 1999, when it was still on the old "rollercoaster.nu" name. Doesn't show the actual number of posts in my profile because I've re-registered a few times due to the ups & downs of various ISP's. I do remember when there were "Junior Members", though! As an aside, I have enjoyed watching this community grow and flourish, and would like to take the opportunity to express to Jeff how nice it is to hang on a board that has some posting rules, and is not in a state of anarchy.

I've always been:

Timothy A. Bretz
"Remember to pillage before you burn"

I think I've been here since close to the beginning, but it's getting hard to remember. With the exception of Old Timer Tim, I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest regular here, and the ol' memory ain't what it used to be... ;)

I've been here pretty much since day one. My name was always Pete, even in the UBB days. This site has really developed over time. It's top notch, and one of my favorite places to visit on the Internet.
