back fill the lagoon and other ideas?

Here is some speculation (not mine, but I am posting it anyway... If any of this happens I will let you know whose speculation this is)

How about this for an idea.

1.. Remove the peanuts playground (or parts of it) to create an open space.

2. relocate Schwabinchen to Michigans adventure

3. Move Troika and Chaos to new open space in Peanuts Playground

4. Close Paddlewheel excursions

5. backfill lagoon up to Mantis.

6. Build Xcelerator type ride (only bigger) on new land.

7. Completely relandscape back (lagoon) area of Park.

Completely speculation, but hey.. this could be more then just a ride installation. Cedar Point is due for a change of some sort...

I couldn't really see CP back-filling much, if any, of the existing lagoons on the penninsula.

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

I don't know about removing PWE, considering they just bought new boats a couple years ago. Also, I could see Schwabichen staybing where it's at, and just move troika & chaos where peanuts playground is. I would look to see the rocket coaster built, but with minimal changing of the landscaping in that area. I think they will remove as little amount of trees as possible. And try not to disturb the surrounding area.

I would be kind of upset if they filled the lagoons, let alone remove PWE. It's a nice relaxing ride with corny jokes, but like the captains say, or did say when i was there once, "a nice relaxing, 7 minuite ride in the shade with no wait". I feel that would be removing some of the "Atmosphere" that i have associated with Cedar Point. I personally don't think they would ever get rid PWE, the older folks and the kids ( including myself 25 yrs old ) enjoy the ride.

First of all, if any part of the park needs new landscaping, it's the area over by WT. That whole area seams stuck in the 60's, and it all started with the Space Spiral!

Next, moving Swabinchen to Michigan's Adventure would be redundant, because Michigan's Adeventure already has a ride similar to that.

The "stuck in the 60's" part of the park is classic Cedar Point. Like all of the smaller classic parks around the country that are thriving right now. It's something you should appreciate when so many parks lack character, other than a square plot of land filled with rides and coasters themed to promote movies. Even classic parks are expanding with these areas, ie.: Lost Kennywood. These areas of Cedar Point need to remain intact, that's a big part of it's appeal, and history. I agree the Peanuts Playground is something that should be removed, it's something you can get at home, basically, at your neighborhood park. They could donate the equipment. They could move the Ocean Motion, and then take out the outdoor picnic facilities for company picnics, opening up the front of another historical building, The Convention Hall, (which is hidden beind the outdoor picnic grounds). The new wood coaster could go from the Peanuts Playground area, to the beach front, then left into an L- shape along the boardwalk to the Breaker's East. There is a lot of room to move the Ocean Motion, Troika and Chaos ride. The Schwabinchen is too recognizable as a part of Cedar Point to move to another park. I agree with not filling in the lagoons or removing the PWC. I think they'll eventually cross over to the island with bridges from the Gemini Midway (by area 51) and the Frontier Trail. Maybe they'll place all the rides (and add more) along the lagoon shores of the island, this would look great at night reflecting off the water. My 2 cents..........
I dont see them getting rid of any flat rides, but maybe moving them around in the park.
I agree with the historical buildings being opened up. I am so dissappointed with how trashed a few historical buildings have become so that mgmt could make them functional office space. This is kind of off the topic but it was brought up about opening up this area. Take a look at what the past actually was like for these buildings! http://www.pointhype.com/cponle/then&now/index.html
Peanuts Playground could hold a large coaster...Raptor or Mantis size. Relocating Chaos and Troika there would not make any sense. However, you could put them by WT and Giant Wheel. How about Chaos right in front of Wicked Twister...where the circular logo is in the cement?
I was just thinking (hard to do since it is summer), When I thought the since Deanne said that the "60's" theme was a good thing over by Space Spiral wouldn't it be cool if CP put the "Rocket Coaster" over there since Xcelerator has the Whole 50's-60's feel to it. Just a thought I know it won't happen.

Dippin Dots aren't they Great!!!

Travis, that's a cool site. It's nice to hear someone else appreciates the history of the park. Have you ever been in the ballroom? If they do the Fireland Red Cross Big Band benefit this fall again, get some tickets. It sure is beautiful. I've been in the old administration building too, and the boardroom is very impressive. I've never been in the convention hall, but I know they could easily move the outdoor picnics to the huge picnic shelters by the Blue Streak that are never full. Removing Peanuts Playground and the picnicc area would open up a nice plot of land for and L-shaped wood coaster.

Net, I doubt they'd destroy all that hard work on the WT design in the midway, and then block off the beach with a ride after just opening that area up.....I like watching the park change. I started going in 1974. The midway used to end where the Corkscrew turns are! I think all of the speculation is fun.

Millennium Man....You are probably right about the rumoured Rocket Coaster. The theming on Xcellerator is excellent! (I want to try that one out!) A new wood coaster over there would match the Boardwalk theme and the retro feel too. (I'd love a new awesome wood coaster) The Blue Streak is a perfect old school coaster for the Marina side. There were rumours of rebuilding the Cyclone that once stood where Disaster Transport is, but only as a racing/dueling coaster. I'd love a great new CCI minus the hard painful form-fitted seats, and minus the head rests. Nothing gives more rider comfort than padded trains. Hard seats just don't make sense to me. I miss the old Blue Streak seats, they were much more comfortable.

How would building a coaster on Peanuts Playgroud block Wicked Twister or the beach?
Not a coaster on Peanuts Playground, moving the Chaos onto the WT design in the midway.
