They changed the supports quite a bit from Xcelerator, but it'll be interesting to see if movement is still a problem.

Left wing liberal morons?
That comment lacks sophistication, intellect, coherence, and taste.
Intamin needs to be competitive in pricing. They are also at the disadvantage of having to ship overseas. Their fabrication plant in Germany has superior equipment over those used by B&M. Intamin's track is much more impressive than B&M in terms of aesthetics, structure, smoother curvature, and better complex transitional elements. Ok, so the aesthetics portion is subjective. The other opinions I can safely call objective from extensive studying of multivariable differential and integral calculus in addition to differential geometry and differential equations.

*lol on the crack addict remark*
Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't those "V" supports put in because the Hydraulics room is farther back towards the tower and the fact that the cables cant exactly go through "I" supports? Because if they fitted the incline with the V supports, dont you think they would of done the same on the decline?
And couldn't CP just have Intamin fit Dragsters incline and decline supports with angled supports like those on Kingda Ka's hill supports? That shouldnt be too hard or cost a huge amount......IN ANY CASE, I see where your getting at.
Oh and about Thorpe Parks launch coasters supports: Look more closly at the top. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v175/Dragster420/unknown13.jpg
I think that they're going to add a crossbeam by the looks of the ends.
Not to mention this:http://themeuk.net/Project_Stealth/sep05/Stealth47.jpg
Why put a bridge at the top and not have a way to get to it? So I think that the crossbeam would also act as a support for the elevator...if there is going to be one. *** Edited 10/22/2005 2:40:34 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Actually then the same would be said for Xcelerator. Although it has completely different supports.

Well, I've always thought that Intamin track is a very elegant design. I think ForgottenEE hit it right on the head in terms of cost effective construction and precise geometry. I would imagine that the Intamin design uses less steel, which is a significant competitive advantage for the company.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
If I remember correctly, Xcelerator was given the crossbeam due to the earthquake situation, given its location. I also remember hearing the actual a-frames were the issue, they shock back and forth.
The major difference I see in Storm Runner and "the Stealth Project" are the supports that are slanted to control the side to side movement.
The a-frames on KK I think have a dual porpose.

They could have just done what they did on Xcel.
EDIT: Spelling.

LOL the world's largest gathering of ducks comes to KBF!
In regards to the cross beam issue on that mini-KK, the cross beam may include more vertical support...we don't know what's included because the cross-beam isn't there yet.
Edit: The ride is still being built. Anything is possible. *** Edited 10/23/2005 7:26:03 PM UTC by Twisted Wicker***
Not to be confused with Twisted Wicker 08 from 2002
Are the two yellow poles at the top of each spike of WT the additional support that was added?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I don't think anything is going in the space between the supports.
Take a look closely here: http://themeuk.net/Project_Stealth/sep05/Stealth52.jpg
There's no flange for another piece to bolt to. It looks that way because of the design; it's sometimes easier to fit and weld that way rather than mitering the ends. X has quite a few supports that look the same way: http://www.twistedrails.com/sfmm2k1/dec01-11.shtml
Still it'd be strange if they left just that small bit of catwalk on the tophat.

You are right Montu, good job. Still, there's going to have to be something to get to that catwalk. But what?

Actually, it appears that there are in fact flanges on those supports. They are rectangular, and appear to have eight holes in them.

Looks like they used the same setup on Storm Runner. And in all the animations and drawings from Thrope Park don't have the cross beam.
Let's get back to CP, shall we.
