Sorry for my frequent posting about wind, but I do want to update anyone who is headed up on sunday, the forecast has now changed to just a 20 percent chance of rain with winds 13 mph from the SE. SE winds shouldnt affect too much as the are blowing towards the parking lot if that makes any sense, in other words, the are coming the way of the causeway(kind of hard to explain) so hopefully this wont affect too much and we have an awesome day!
None of those rides would be closed in 7-10mph winds. You are mistaken with the wind speed.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
It was gusty in the morning and the breeze was calm to non-existent in the afternoon and the attractions I mentioned were still closed. I mean, I don't carry an anemometer around with me wherever I go so I could be mistaken- just relaying info via the Weather Bug app I have on my iPhone.
^^ each ride has its own "weather station" at the top of it to measure wind speed/direction and temperature. If ride operators notice that the wind speed is to high to operate the ride safely they will shut it down. The weather app is unreliable in this situation.
I realize this. Pete said I was incorrect on my interpretation of the wind speed. I got my info from the app on my phone. And, the app is very reliable btw.
I didn't mean to imply that you couldn't interpret your source of wind speed. The weather station Weatherbug uses for Sandusky may well be inland somewhere and is not representative of the wind on the peninsula. Being exposed to the open water makes a difference in wind speed, especially a couple hundred feet up.

The app may be reliable, but not at the top of the lift hills. The wind can greatly vary just a few hundred feet above the ground. There isn't much if any leeway in regards to operational safety based on the manufacturers criteria. It's much better to operate within the required parameters instead of dealing with some bad press. Imagine how bad it would look if their new flagship ride valley'ed with a load of guests or had other issues. Not good.
remember: no matter where you go... there you are.
(but it would be nice to have access to the readings from those weather stations online somehow...)

When I'm in line for Dragster, the wind speed is zero.
When I'm in line for Wicked Twister, the wind speed is greater than zero.
When I'm 150 feet tall, the wind speed is even greater than when I'm in line for Wicked Twister.
When am I correct?

From a micro perspective for each exact location / altitude: probably correct for every one.
remember: no matter where you go... there you are.
Bingo.
:)
I was joking, by the way. You can't use an app and apply wind conditions to a dynamic environment like Cedar Point.
Just because you can't feel the 30 MPH gusts from where you are does not mean Gatekeeper cannot.
Promoter of fog.
Also Tuesday morning was still pretty chilly as I recall. A 20mph wind wind at 50 degrees is a lot worse than the same wind at 80 degrees.
It's inevitable. Stick GateKeeper in its 13-E box now. Forget the wind...it's too bright at night from Kinzel's house.
I about spat out my tea hahaha
Does Kinzel still live on exec row?
