August Hours

I'm planning my first (and only :() trip to CP this year on August 20th. I just looked at the schedule and they're open until 8:00 during the week for the second half of August. Is this new? Weren't they open until 10:00 during the week in previous years up until Labor Day? I could be completely wrong, but that's what I remember.

I'm not sure about previous years but I know some schools are back in session the week of the 18th.

The schedule didn't change from last year. Once area schools get back in session, attendance drops and there is no reason to leave the park open until 10. It was just a couple of years ago that the park was open until 11 during the peak season. As attendance trends shift, so do the hours of operation.

That's why I was wondering- the attendance shift. I didn't know that schools were back in session so early!

Labor Day is September 1st this year--hence school starts early. Next year with Labor Day being 9/7 everything will start later.

Down here in Alabama, school starts in a week. I would hate to be a kid going to school down here. :)

I just got out of school. Never will I take summer classes again! From what I remember going to the park many times since 2005, the August schedule has been the same, or close to what it is now.

School should be year round!

I usually take my vacation week the last week of August. The hours are shorter. Last year with just a starlight pass i rode every coaster front car in one night. I go because its not as busy.

If you have the Platinum pass you can be there from 9:00am to 8:00pm. For me, 11 hours will be plenty.
