Yes, I know I did say I was thinking of going in October, but now we are thinking somewhere around August 26th. I'm just wondering, how are operations? I mean arethey understaffed with all the employees back at school? And are Ohio schools back yet then?
The one time I went late in the season, the park was very understaffed. August 26th could be iffy as far as operations go, especially if you go during the week. I'm sure some people will still be around, but not nearly what's there in July.
From my experience, the weather can get funny that time of year. It can be either super hot or quite cool (last time I went in late Aug, the temps were in the low 40s & rainy). Pack a sweater & umbrella just in case, go & have a good time. Remember to keep an eye on the sky. Thunderheads, waterspouts or any other type of severe weather can come over Lake Erie in late August really fast.
I must admit, I love to watch a good storm come in, from a safe vantage point.
Didn't they just hire a spool of new employees from different countries? So maybe they won't be understaffed.
I would imagine a lot of employees would be leaving at that time or around that time.
I am going 24-26th yippppppppppppy
I went the last week of august last year and it was very cold and the wind was horrible. I was on the 9th floor of the breakers tower with a lake view room and balcony and you opened those doors and it was like a wind tunnel in the room. Granted the ride up on the motorcycle was not dry but it was a fun week.
We went the last week of August (06) to check out the Maverick construction - it was not crowded, but the park was not operating at full capacity either...Gemini only one side, Power Tower one up one down, etc.
I remember it being windy but not enough for Dragster to be down or anything. It wasn't too cold.
it was not all that crowded at all. I seem to remember getting on all the rides within a 30 min period. millie and dragster were the only longer lines. Fridays at Breakers was the long line at night. I didnt know i could wait 1 hour for a beer.
Good to hear about this. I don't mind the cold at all though. I went to
Great Adventure when it was like 45 degrees out. They actually closed Kingda Ka because there was ice on the brakes. I went on KK later in the day in the front seat. It felt odd... to say the least, but I still enjoyed it.

I wish there was a good way to go for 3 days. If I would of knew I would of went twice in one summer I would of got the season pass.
But it looks like I might buy a ride and slide and then a fun-day pass.
Next summer I am thinking of venturing to other theme parks, but I wish I woulda went maxx pass plus w/ joe cool and got in early staying at hotels of my choice.
I hope for short lines. *** Edited 8/9/2007 5:07:40 AM UTC by factory81***
