August 1st & 2nd

So, I'm finally getting my trip to the Point.

After weeks of planning and weather forecasting, we finally decide tomorrow and Wednesday will be good days to go. HOT, but good.

And tomorrow is my parents anniversary. My gift to them will be getting them on Dragster for their first time, as they haven't been to the park since the early 80's! haha. I know they'll love it just as much as I do!

Anyone else planning on showing up?!

I won't be back to CP until this weekend.

Glad you're finally getting your trip, but it is definately going to be HOT. Hopefully the lines will be relatively short, because waiting in long lines when it's that hot will be miserable.

Where are you staying? If you're staying on property, at least you'll be able to go back to your room and relax if it gets too hot for you.

And Congrats to your parents on their anniversary!

Thanks! Yes I really hope the park isnt too crowded on these days. I don't wanna stand in the scorching lines. Last summer when I came over the lines were long and it was HOT! Not as hot as it will be this time, but it was hot. I'll definately be making a few rides on Snake River Falls! haha

We're planning on staying at The Maples. Everyone on these boards is telling me how great it is and everything. Its not too far from the park, so we could leave and take a break if we needed. Although, I'd make my parents leave me at the park. Thats precious time with my coasters! haha

And thanks for the congrats to my parents Mark. Its their 25th. I feel bad we're gonna be there on their anniversary, but they're going away for a romantic weekend later this month! They're headin up ot the Finger Lakes Wine Country in New York, so that'll be nice for them.

OH JOY!!!

My mother just called form work and said we're most likely not going this week anymore. Its gonna be too hot and my dad does NOT do well in the heat.

I'm seriously ready to kill someone. This is the second time this trip has been postponed. I'm pissed.

I've heard of quite a few people who are canceling their trips this week because of the heat... Maybe the park will be empty tomorrow... :)

Wait until the last week of August....get a cabin in LHP and enjoy the light crowds. The park closes kinda early (8) but the lack of attendance more than makes up for it.

Either that or get your parents to do a Halloweekends trip.

...When it will be 10 times as busy.

Have fun!!!!! Remember to get free water at the concession stands-it saved me from passing out!!!!

I'm not exactly sure where everyone is getting this "Halloweekends is Busy" thing. Its never been terribly busy when we've gone (which is the last 2 years). I know they've had massive single day crowds on Saturday's where its been unseasonably nice out, but I've not noticed it being unbelievably crowded. And definitely not more crowded than a Saturday or Sunday in July or August.

You must just go on the right days, JuggaLotus. I typically am at the park every weekend of HalloWeekends, and it is generally pretty crowded. And on those busy Saturdays, it's simply unbearable.

I told my parents that there is lots of free water, and water rides, and the mist fans in the lines....and they still don't wanna go cause of the heat advisory. I'm really bummed. It's only supposed to be like mid 90's tomorrow, and I don't think thats THAT bad, but I guess it is.

We'll most likely reschedule for next week.

We were there closing weekend last year. It was busier than May, but it wasn't that bad. Maybe I'm remembering it differently but it didn't seem that crowded. Even on Saturday. Our worst concern was that we had 10 people in the cabin.

It really is that bad, Bodes. If you can do it, you're much better off waiting. Today is highest heat index we've seen in seven years. The dewpoint (the best measure of discomfort) is currently sitting at 77, the highest dewpoint since August 31, 1999. Tomorrow may be even worse. Should be out of the woods by Thursday.

The heat advisory for West Michigan said there is a cold front that should be here Tuesday night (when the HA ends). However, the advisory noted that if the front slows down, the advisory could be extended to include Wednesday as well.

It didn't feel too bad at lunch today. It was hot, but it didn't feel muggy, more like just a dry heat. But dang was it hot.

Bodes we know your ready to go right now but keep in mind the better time your parent's have might make a big difference on how soon you get to come back.I love the point as much as anyone, but when it comes to 90+ temperatures I would rather be home.

Down here in Tennessee it has been 90+ everyday since about the last week of June. The heat is one of the reasons me and my wife didn't make the trip on our anniversary.

Sounds like it will be fun for me tomorrow... I may have to make a stop at Soak City! :)

I guess you are right Walt and cpdad, but I guess I'm jsut saying it won't be that bad cause extreme heat doesn't bother me. My dad is like dying in 80 degrees. I'm perfectly comfortable in 90+ degrees. My father is not adapted well to heat. So yes, I'd rather wait and have him be happy (my mom isn't bothered by heat either) than go now and be miserable.

Its just another week I have to wait which irks me! haha. I have NO patience when it comes to amusement park trips. Especially Cedar Point!

Oh well. Thanks everyone for your feedback!

I just went on the 28th and 28th and it was not that bad on friday. We talked to a lady in the line for iron dragon when it broke down and she said that the were all supprised that the park was not packed. But saturday was a different story. The park was full and it was very hot. But we still got on Top Thrill Dragster and it was only an hour wait, but we waited an extra 30 min for the front row. Also Mantis wasnt doing that good on saturday during the day, we waited for about 45 min and it broke down, so we waited another 30 min and the gave up. But as we walked out one of the workers said that it had something to do with the pressure and the were waiting for it to load. Overall great trip!!!

Iron Dragon has been quite the problem coaster lately...
