The auction for VIP rides is doing pretty well, a dummy already bid $1,000
I may have bid $150 but $1000 is ridiculous, thankfully, the money goes to charity.
Does anyone know what they do if there are multiple bids for the last spot? If there are 5 $75 dollar bids for spot 36 what do they do?
I don't know specifically what the Red Cross will do in this case, but typically in an online auction what happens in a scenario like that is the first person to get their bid in at that price "wins".

If you were going to give $1000 anyways to Red Cross or some equivalent organization, why not get a day at CP and an early ride on MF out of it?

I wish I had a thousand laying around :)
Are people really that dense? You don't bid high on the first day in an online auction. You get in to a bidding war in the last hour of the auction.
I say good for the Red Cross, but I'd hate to see those people negotiate the price of a car.

Amazing that you are ragging on someone for donating money to as good a cause as the Red Cross. This is supposed to fun. They are not auctioning off the Tower of London. The donors are not trying to screw somone over and see what they can get for nothing. It is a fun way to donate to a cause.
Which part of "good for the Red Cross" was ragging? I'm shelling out $225 of my own money to sponsor two teams and a hole in said charity's golf tournament.

Usually calling someone dense or stating that they are to dumb to buy a car would be considered ragging.
He was stating bidding high on the first day of an auction was dense, which it is. Not having any money trees in my backyard, I want to bid enough to get on, not necessarily front car but just enough to get on. I like giving the money to charity and all but I need to pay my bills first. Jeff has always spoken well of the auction and participants.
Thank you Rob, for seeing my point.

Can someone please post the web address for the Red Cross site? Is it linked from cedarpoint.com?

The auction must be BOOMING. If you look at the Bid page it appears CP has "given" the second train to the Red Cross as well.
that is interesting front seat on train two is 140 dollars. HUH it looks good enough to me when I compare it to front seat on train one at 2500.

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
Any seat on any train will be good if I can avoid the line! Plus the Red Cross can do some good things with this much money. Any word on who the Firelands chapter regularly helps or does it all go to the main fund?
I just don't understand why people are paying that much to get on it to be the "first riders".. because.. i mean i know it's nice to give to charity, but in all actuallity... those of us who are going to cedar point for the AAA thing on May 7th, get to be the first civilians to ride it, and all we have to pay is 22 bucks... so... yeah.. i'm done now

It's not a "first ride" auction, it's a "VIP ride" auction.

Those of us going on May 6 are teh first civilians to ride it, AAA day is nothing special either. It's not the point of being first period, that is already gone, there are two reasons to bid-the cause and being first on the first "public" day. Many ships and planes sail or fly on test runs which are the first actual runs but when passengers or the public get on the first time then the craft is considered "dedicated" or officially running. This is no different.
AAA and Basket day are private events so we will technically be the first people to ride the biggest coaster ever built and the first one of the millennium at CP. What will you tell your grandchildren when you take them there? You rode it on AAA day or were on the first ride of opening day, the latter sounds better to me.
Rob..I'm in tears that was so touching...:)..
Really though..That was WELL put!! Good Job..that should quiet the critics..Cya on the platform!!

ok, well... i understand that the people who test run it and such get to be the real first people, but i'd much rather say that i spent the lesser amount of money to ride prior to the richer people who wanted to spend way over 2,000 to ride it as "VIP's"... considering i'm not a rich person, anyway i'm not even going on the AAA day even though I could, because it's not even open for a full day... ok well i have more to say but i have to go, and i'm not trying to get in any "cat fight".. i'm just.. stating my opinion
