No it now burns coal just like the rest of our engines! I think you all are noticing a different color of smoke becuase we are getting into an older pile of coal that may have more sulfur in it than what we have burned for most of this summer.

I found some more info on Opryland's train system last night on this site....
http://www.thrillhunter.com/Railroad.html
According to that site, (I have no idea how often it is updated) upon Opryland's closing in 1997, Elizabeth went to Astroworld until that park closed in 2005....she now is at SFoG in need of repair.
Nick
Dave, that locomotive has a lot of nicknames, Davenstein being one of them. The locomotive is a product of the Davenport Locomotive Works of Davenport IA the same firm that built Albert. It had been sent out to Knotts a few years ago and their crew did an evaluation of her and did a few test runs (it had very little run time since it's rebuild for Marriott. It was originally intended to be used at the Gurnee park, but after getting the bill from Keystone Light Railways they opted to use the infernal combustion steam outline locomotives from Custom Fabricators). There is a rumour floating around that management was considering naming it R.L.Munger which would be rather ironic as he was mister bottom line during his tenure. I would rather see it named for Jack Foster (which is what Judy K was named originally).
So how long till this train gets named the Richard K. In memory of our beloved former leader! :S

Ok I'm a little clueless about this. What is this new train? Where'd it come from and whys it so special?

Like all of the locomotives at Cedar Point, it can hardly be described as "new". Long story short, it has been passed around the amusement industry for a number of years now, though it hasn't run much. Disney had planned to use it at Disneyland, but it was too big, so they moved it to Florida, where it proved to be too small. Then they swapped it with Cedar Point's old engine, so maybe at Cedar Point it will be just right. Cedar Point has had it for a number of years, but it has served mostly to take up space in the engine house.

Why would they only run it once though?

We are slow working all the bugs out of it! So we only run it on slow one train days or like the previous time we ran it this year when boilers were being washed. Not everyone is comfortable with running it yet either! You have to strong arm the throttle and even though it had a lot of work done to it over the winter it still has a good amount of play in it. So you have to get used to when it picks up steam and at what point you actually have the throttle closed. From my observations it seems to working just fine just minor things here an there! In the near future we would like to make it an everyday engine but that may not happen till it has its own tender and few more cosmetic issues are worked out!

Anyone else filling in the title with curse words at first?
Do yourself a favor, and imagine the uncensored title of this thread being read by Samuel L Jackson. It'll make you smile.
On my visit back in August, I remember seeing a flat black painted tender. With no name on the side, did not think much of it at the time.

Sorry it took me so long. Here are the photos I grabbed.

That was Myron not the Davenport! The painters painted Myron's tender in the spring and never put the lettering on the sides. Judy's tender is the same way right now as well. The Davenport is currently using George's tender untill one can be made for it!

So the tender that Randy made from the tank didn't work out?I know that it was out on the road a couple of times.
