Go to jobs.cedarpoint.com and apply to be a Screamster and you will see what it's like to have the best job in the world. And like always, any questions you have about being a Screamster, just post a question and it will be answered. So apply and get ready for a a job you will never forget and meet people who will be some of your best friends.

I finish my application tonight when does Peggy call you?

Whenever she gets to your application..did you email her after you finished letting her you know you finished?

Yes I did. I am new this year so how many days would i have to wait until she calls. What happens next?

It shouldn't take too long for a reply..this week sometime..if not then early next week. And next you need to think what zone you would be able to excel the most in. And then for a head start think of a character name..where did your character come from..how did you die...your history and everything. The more details you can think of for you character the better you will be as a character. Once that mask goes on you are your character until that mask comes off..even when the lights come back on. The more you focus on your character the more memorable you will be which will help make what zone in your in better.

Zeek beat me to starting this topic, but yes, it is time to apply! Submit an application on cedarpoint.com and where it asks for job choice, put department 613- Screamster. I'm sure Peggy has probably been swamped the last two days with all the returners who have rushed to apply, so don't worry if you don't get contacted for a day or two.

There are positions available in the 4 outdoor zones (Terror Island, Fright Zone, CarnEvil, and Fear Faire) which are "on stage" from 8-midnight Friday and Saturday nights from September 18-October 31, and from 7-10 on Sunday, October 11. Makeup times begin as early as 4 PM and can be arranged to accomodate your schedule. Also, for anyone available to work the entire weekend, positions are available in the indoor haunted houses that will provide 20+ hours of work a weekend. Free housing is available, and Screamsters do not need to meet the CP grooming guidelines unless they arrange to work additional hours at a position in the park. You do not necessairly need to be available for every single night, but being availalbe for a majority of the dates is desireable.

As Zeek said, being a Screamster is all about character. There are such a wide range of people who do this job it's unreal. Its by far the most diverse group of people I've ever worked with. We have everyone from stay at home moms, business professionals, and teachers to goth club DJ's, tattoo artists, and truck drivers. You don't need any previous acting experience (although it can be a plus) you just need a desire to work hard, have fun, and enjoy scaring people!

I will warn that this job isn't as easy as many people perceive it to be. With rare exceptions, most of the roles are very hard work. There is a saying some of us veterans have that "if you don't feel like you can't move at the end of the night, you aren't working hard enough." However, the job is so fun and so rewarding that you have no problem going right back out there and doing it again the next night.

I personally discovered this job entirely by accident 6 years ago. I applied to CP late in the season of 2004 just because I wanted to see what it was like to work there. I was originally slated to work on Ripcord (which is now ironic in it's own sense) but was switched to Screamsters shortly after interviewing. It has turned out to be the best mistake to ever happen to me. These weekends are now something I look forward to more than any other part of the year. I'm now in my 3rd year as a TL (2nd as TL of Terror Island) and I couldn't imagine doing anything else during these fall weekends. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to either ask on here or send me a PM. Hopefully we will be scaring with you this fall!

So did the park appoint you an HR or PR spokesperson?

Returning screamsters were asked to spread the word and recruit people....

Which zone is the best to work at? Because im thinking of Carnevil or either Fear Farie

CarnEvil is more of a fast paced zone. A lot of quick movements and things of that nature. Fright Zone is where you'll have the most veterans in there so it would be a great learning experience and the zone is a mix of fast paced and hidden and theatrical scares. Terror Island is more a long the lines of theatrical, since all the characters are one main theme you kind of play off of each other. And Fear Faire I can't really say, never been in there but Ralph can fill you in on that. Just whatever zone you go through as a guest and like the most, pick that one because you obviously already enjoy it.

Of course, Fright Zone gets the most veterans, so it is the hardest zone for new people to get into. Not to say it's impossible though, especially if you apply early. As for Fear Faire, it's probably the slowest paced of any of the zones, which means you get more one on one time with the guests, which places an emphasis on strong character. The zone is fairly wide open, which can make getting scares a little more challenging, but in my opinion, also makes them more rewarding.

What do you do before you go into make up? How you past the time. When do you know what zone you would work in?

Your mom is to fat to ride TTD.'s avatar

^ You go ride rides!

Let's Get Weird.

^ is right, thats one option. On saturday the park is already open so some people will catch a few rides before getting into makeup. most of the time on friday and saturday people will just relax in the ballroom until its their time, talking, sleeping, watching movies, whatever. For me the time goes by quick. If I get there by 5, and I'm in makeup by 6, I only have about an hour till I'm getting my gear ready for the night, filling up my water etc.

If I remember correctly Peggy should? let you know what zone you are in after the interview and hiring. I could be wrong. It's been awhile since I've worried about placement.

And another way to pass the time is to ask veterans questions. The more you ask about what you can do to improve or ideas, the better it will be for you to improve and for the zone you're in. Just hang out and meet new people because Screamsters will become a second family and you will grow close to some of the people there.

The time between makeup and going on stage does go by pretty quickly. You'll set a makeup time with your artist that will be somewhere between 4-8 PM, and as long as you're in costume and ready to go when your time comes up, you can do whatever you like before then. Many Screamsters hang out together before work on Saturdays, either in the park or around town. Some also work day jobs in the park such as traffic, admissions, sweeps, etc. or are in the parade.

I can't remember when exactly Peggy lets you know what your zone assignment is, but you should know long before you come to process in.

I know this sounds stupid but it has been two days since i finish my application for becoming a screamster. Peggy has not called yet. Should I be worry.

No, it took a few days for me to get called and it happened at like 915 at night, so dont worry.
