Atari is in financial troubles again, so they are selling off some assets, chief among them is RCT. Hopefully it goes to a good studio and not someone like EA. What this means is we are likely to see a new RCT game in the relative future because any studio that picks up the rights to it is going to want to capitalize on their investment.

I think it was RCT2 that had a Six Flags partnership, RCT3 had a partnership with hersheypark. I'd love to see RCT4 have a partnership with Cedar Fair.
One thing I'd love to see happen with a RCT4 would be more organic layouts for your park and ride elements. As far as RCT3, everything from paths to food stands is snapped to a grid, so recreating a park like Cedar Point where midways go off at an angle and don't follow a perfect grid is really tough to do, let alone make look good.

I don't think it matters who gets the franchise, provided they also hire on Chris Sawyer as a producer, if he's interested. I had a great e-mail exchange with him way back in 1999 or 2000 or something, and he totally gets what made his original two games so much fun to play.

I'd like to see Roller Coaster tycoon continued if they sell. I loved 1 & 2 but never really caught on to 3. I was already into Hyper Rails when it came out and I eventually made it over to NoLimits. Reading this, though, makes me want to play 2 once again. I do miss making awesome custom parks.

I still play RCT2 all the time... It is somewhat of a "timeless" game, and many friends who played the game in its prime, still play it today.
I hated RCT3... Uninstalled and never played again after a few weeks with it. I want the only 2D style, simplistic game. It is perfect, it just needs some more flat rides and such :)

^That's my biggest dislike of RCT, any of the 3 versions. I actually prefer RCT3 unlike some people on here. I never played RCT2 but I don't see how it would be too different from the 1st.
So if there is a RCT4 that comes out, I'd definitely like to be able to have more freedom when designing rides and parks. It doesn't have to be completely up to par with NoLimits, but it would be nice for the game to be just a little more realistic.
