Assaults at CP Dorms

This certainly will not help them hire good help if it's true:

Kind of news I don't want to hear about CP for sure....yikes.

I wonder if the station will also be doing an investigation into sexual assaults at the dorms of all the Ohio universities and include how many Campus Police departments provide them with the reports.

I wonder if Cedar Fair's TV advertising spending was down.....

Good point. You know how the media can be, pick on someone because they can.

Just because a school doesn’t release information doesn’t mean another agency doesn’t need to. They have nothing to do with cp. Yes, the media picks up on women being assaulted. Please report on that. Expose it every time it happens anywhere it happens.

Also the news story specifically saying "only three men were charged" seems very slanted to me... Like a hit piece.

I have family and friends in the social work and mental health services communities, along with people involved in anti trafficking organizations and that point is far from the simple truth they'd like it to be. It's certainly a problem that needs to be addressed but as XS points out where's all the articles about other organizations with similar housing and similar reporting issues. It reads like it's loaded.

I think GL2CP you make the most important point, if there is a concern report on it. I'm more appalled about how little it comes up in the full scope of the issue.

On average I'll trust information in this forum more than a news agency at this point.

Channel 11 in Toledo is running the same series starting tonight (5-2) at 11pm.

You can find info on college crime. Colleges are required to report it under Clery Act.

Just because they're required to do it, doesn't mean the will or won't try to hide it...

Here's one recent example of almost a decade of non-compliance- also the Clery act only instates fines for 'large scale violations' of the act.

University of California Berkeley
On September 17, 2019 the US Department of Education issued a Final Program Review Determination following an analysis of UC Berkeley's policies, procedures and statistics from 2009-2016 that found UC Berkeley to have failed to comply with the Clery Act.[26] On September 9, 2020 UC Berkeley and federal authorities reached a settlement agreement under which the campus will pay $2.35 million to the Department of Education and remain under a two-year monitoring agreement.[27]

According to UC Berkeley's "SUMMARY of Department of Education Findings,"[28] the infractions committed are as follows:

The vast majority of UC Berkeley’s misclassifications of incidents (982 of the 1,125 total misclassifications or approximately 87 percent) were improperly classified student disciplinary referrals.
The Department of Education found that the campus lacked the administrative capability to administer the Clery Act. Many of the findings are technical and administrative in nature and relate to the classification of crimes, compliance with Daily Crime Log requirements, compilation and disclosure of various crime statistics and the failure to issue the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report each year under the exacting standards required.
The Department also concluded that the university failed to follow its sexual violence and sexual harassment policies with regard to simultaneous notification of a disciplinary outcome to a single complainant, failed to issue Emergency Notifications appropriately in an SVSH matter in 2013 and a campus protest in 2017, failed to issue Timely Warnings and maintain appropriate documentation.

Channel 10 did a piece on this tonight. Apparently one of the victims was discouraged from reporting by being told she wouldn't be able to continue working at the park if she did, knowing she loved her job.

She was too young to be staying in the dorms- she was forced into a closet while visiting a friend.

Just horrible.

Here's part of 10's investigation-

An email chain shows a reluctance by the park to publicly discuss reported sexual assaults involving its employees.
