Aright, I'm new here and....

Food: Personally, we carry a cooler and keep it in the car. You can only bring water into the park. No soft drinks or food. I also prefer to eat in the park, or in one of the restaurants in Sandusky. Midway Market is all you can eat and very good. I've also had success (others will argue with me) at Macaroni's, and the Breakwater Cafe. If you are staying in the campground at CP, then you can easily grab something to eat and drink in the RV.

OldCPer,

I was at the park just last Sunday with a brand new ice cold liter bottle of water that I had just bought at a convenience store on the way in. At the admission gate I was greeted by a grumpy person who yelled at me: "Drink it or throw it away!"

She later told me that it was a new park policy for this year -- no outside water bottles are allowed in.

for what it's worth...

Last week at Coastermania, as I tried to re-enter through the Soak City/Resorts gate with a 20oz Pepsi, I was told that I would either have to finish it or throw it away before I could enter.

If I were to purchase a $3.00 Pepsi from the Hotel Breakers vending machine, I should be able to enter the park with it.

The whole no outside bottles thing kind of bothers me as the fact that they did allow those was one of things that set CP apart. Now they are like every other big venue (stadiums, concerts, etc) just trying to screw you out of your 99 cent pretzles or 75 cent soda so you have to buy something in the park for three times the price. This is the kind of stuff that is done "in the name of safety" that is just stupid and serves to upset people who are there with the intention of having a good time. Jacking up the parking every year serves the same purpose. I love CP, but this is one thing that always upset me about other parks, sporting events, etc, and now that CP has joined the club, I am upset about that too.

I'm sorry, but I think that's just wrong ... especially if it was a Cedar Point purchase. Even if it wasn't, they do not need to be that strict.

I definitely agree with you Gemini. A Pepsi bottle is a Pepsi bottle, a water bottle is a water bottle, nomatter where it is purchased. I can certainly understand them not wanting huge coolers being carted into the park full of beer and stuff. I can understand them not wanting glass bottles and things like that, but small things like some soda, water, pretzles, chips, etc are not going to hurt anyone. All this policy does is serve to piss people off. How can they tell if it was purchased at CP or not? Simple - they can't. Therefore, they should allow the stuff in. Say what you want about safety, but this change is about money. CP was real good about these things in the past, but I guess not now.

A week or two ago my kids and I walked into the park through the front gate with McDonalds cups... no one said a thing. Guess it's whoever greets you at the gate!

I don't see a problem with carrying in one or two items, especially if you are in the process of consuming them, but if they allow you to take in one thing, then the next guy tries two things, then the rules bend more and more.

I remember the days when you could bring in a whole cooler into old Geauga Lake. We had a cooler filled with beer about 15 years ago. Needless to say that day was the closest I have ever been to being arrested.

Reagrding taking food/drinks into the park I haven't been to CP yet this year but I assume that they still have the picnic areas just outside the main gate where you can leave a cooler with stuff in it. We always enjoyed having our our own dinner and watching the turnaround of Blue Streak. In all the years of going to the park, we have never had any problem leaving the stuff there. I also remember last year that there was also the same (but much smaller) facility just outside the entrance to Soak City.
Well, damn. When my husband and I were there 3 weeks ago, he was told he could not bring the pop into the park, but was allowed to bring the water in. NOW they won't let us bring in water either??!! This makes absolutely no sense to me.

I had an Aquafina with me and they told me I couldn't bring it in.
