Archived Webcams!

OK, is it just me, or do the webcams no longer display current feeds -- just an archived picture from earlier today?

I have never seen that happen before, so excuse me if it is a regular occurance. . .it just seems weird to me.

Sometimes the ground level one displays the 8 to 9am pictures later in the day,I think because they may unplug it or something during the work day. But the other ones seem to stay up to date most of the time. Maybe you browser isn't updating the cache. Try clearing it or reloading the page.

I mentioned in the "Web Cam" thread that it appears the page names have changed from powertowercam and etc to camera1 and etc.

Interesting thing is the new pages have old images, while the old pages have up-to-the-minute images.

[Edit] If your browser is set to refetch all elements when you load a page, it will pull everything from the site every time you visit. If it's set like mine, it will pull from cache unless there's been a change of some sort (but not an image change like they're doing... the image name or size or something trackable would have to change to trigger a re-download). Hitting the refresh button forces the browser to re-download the page from their server.

yes OK i just totally cleared my history stuff on my computer. Revisited the site. . .and now I notice that it says right on the page "Note: This photo is an archive photo from earlier.)"

And I also saw how TekGuy said the names were changed. . . Interesting. But it definately has nothing to do with reloading on your computer. It is an archived photo. On all three webcams.

Oh yeah, they are archived now. I don't think they were like that earlier in the day. The last time I checked them it was around 2 or 3 pm.

These links, well for now anyway, take you to live feeds.

It appears they want to rid the constant updating. I hope CP leaves these "hidden" pages up for just us.

Or maybe they want to give people something to look at other than pitch black. ;)

Hey Thanks TekGuy. That is really interesting that they changed the names and now show the archived photo. . . you are right, it is possible that they just want people to see somethign other than black. . . but still. . .its weird.

Did you also notice how the images update every 10 seconds rather than every 60 seconds now?

Yeah 60 here too. :(

EDIT: Woops, ok, now it IS every 10 seconds. . . on the archived photos, that is.

by chance, I had to work all day so I did not get a chance to see the construction that happened today. Does anybody have a archived pic before the sun went down. or can somebody tell me what they did. More track, more suppports, structure got taller, etc.??? Thank you

Thank you very much!! I thought that was next but I was not sure. It is always hard to tell.

If you go here

http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/webcam/index.cfm

and then click the dark images, a lighter image from earlier in the day appears.

holy crap,, thats cool. I did not know what you guys were talking about before, with the archived pics and all. I have those pages in my favorites so I just open them (instead of going thru CP's pages to get there) Thanks alot!!

I don't know if that's a web page reprogramming side effect or not... but hey, it's there for now.

Maybe CP is trying to hide #16 from everybody??

The weather has been bad so they probly not doing much work ,its supposed to be "not good "from now to thankgiving day .Would you climb up there in a snow storm or rain to screw bolts together at "330 ft"
I wouldn't

I'm not an old fogey, I'm just an old coaster rider..

Does anyone remember the web cam thread that had grown to over 25 pages? A lot of people complained that they could not be in front of a computer during the day and wanted to know what was going on with the construction. I hope all you people write CP and thank them for this beautiful change in the web cams. I have. (even though i now make sure i visit the web site before work, during the day)
Hey, just so you know. . .the webcams which were once archived are now showing LIVE pics again, every 10 seconds!!
