Aquatrax

I admit that Disney's theming is worlds away from CP's. However, if you want the actual ride to be the most exciting that it can be, then Cedar Point is the park for you. Incidentally, that includes me.

Amen!

I don't want to rant, but Disney isn't comparable to any other place in the world (CP included).

Which "direction" are you referring? Disney is so bad that its not comparable to any other place in the world, or nothing in the world is comparable to Disney because it is so well done?

note: I used to be a Disney basher...always saying who cares about theming and just give me thrills like CP. But after my trip there earlier this year (and to IOA), I've done a complete 180.

I'm pretty sure that he didn't mean "because it is so well done" as much as it is like comparing the Yankee's payroll to that of the Marlins.

Edit: However, apparently payroll in baseball does not mean as much to the quality of the organization as investments of amusement parks mean to the quality of the guests experience.

Any Updates?

Well, I was at the park today getting some photo updates, and I must say, the area behind the Frontier Inn all the way to behind UR DADE seems to 'scream' launch in the way the supports are in a long, gradual incline.

I meant by size and the fact that it is Disney.

Well, yes. CP is massive at roughly 364 acres. I don't have the stats and haven't been there, but that's probably pretty hard to top, especially for Disney being in California. Cedar Point is larger with more thrills, Disney is smaller but is more to entertain as well as thrill?

Disneyland is pretty small. I think the Magic Kingdom is something like 85 Acres and Disneyland is a total of 160 acres.

Honestly, I would love to see a heavily themed coaster like the other Aquatrax. However, CP can't do themeing, and if we tried anything like that, this ride would be about a ridden as DT is today. I want a ride that will last, not a ride that will be gone to hell in 5 years.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. Disney is good at designing and maintaining theming of their park. However, Cedar Point is not. Disney is best at theming, and should be left to do that. CP is best at designing very thrilling, record-shattering rides and should do that. Both are good at something, and they serve different purposes. Just like why they still have older rides at CP :)

i dont consider(sp) this themeing but i can see cp putting in lights and western looking benches, etc. but i cant see this ride going in and out of a mountain of some sort, as much as i may like.

aslong as it thrills ill be happy!

I agree. There are slight things that they could do, that they are good at, that can be done to increase to feeling of the space, ie landscaping, trees, lighting, buildings, etc. The mountain part might be a bit much for CP to handle, and I don't mind.

It just seems that Cedar Point has spoiled all of us. We all want something new, exciting, never before seen, prototype of a ride. Granted, this is has been the game plan of Cedar Point, but if they decided to build something that has already been in another park for a few years, then what's the harm in that? We've been on some great coasters in other parks, and we wouldn't mind having those designs here at Cedar Point.

I've been thinking for quite a while that this would probably be an Aquatrax coaster. After looking at the pictures of Atlantas Adventure, I'm more excited about the possibility. This ride looks like a lot of fun with or without the mountain. I could definately see some light theming like what you see on Mine Ride, Thunder Canyon, and Snake River Falls. The old White Water Landing building already has the feel. If they another building or two to go through, plant trees in the area, maybe even add some Thunder Canyon type of rock work, the ride would probably look great.

The only problem that I see with that possibility is that it would not match up well with Sky Hawk and if they were going to go for that type of theme, red track would not seem to make the most sense.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what it's going to be. In the mean time, it is really nice for Cedar Point to play this game with us. Once we know what it is, a lot of the excitement and fun will be gone.

By the way, I still think that there is a decent chance that this could be an Aquatrax with a switch track so that it will travel part of its course backwards. *** Edited 7/24/2006 10:16:23 PM UTC by Natas***

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

IOA, I would dare to say is better at theming than Disney.

101 on Magnum and counting...

I agree.

...And I would dare to say that there must have been something wrong with whoever decided put the world's smallest midways in a park that was going to entertain so many guests... ;)

Yes, but better theming in my opinion means better publicity. Just imagin all cp's coasters with as much theme as expidition everest.

To the folks talking about acerage: The CP pinnensula is 364 acres. Not the park. The parking lot itself takes up 64 acres.

It's really odd because PKI has a total of 364 acres, too, if I've read right.
