Anyone know any nice living area within 30-40 miles of the park?

Anyone know any nice cities? Just wondering for future reference. I would like to not have to live in a dorm if I choose to work at CP in the next few years.

I've been wondering the same thing for the exact same reason.

You could check on the town of Bellevue, Milan and Norwalk.

If your looking for cheap than Lorain is good. Crappy city which is why housing is cheap. You can get a one bedroom apartment for 400/mo. I'm renting a 4 bedroom house for 650/mo.

Vermilion is a nice place, and it's about half way between Cleveland and the park which makes for easy access to some big city amenities when the mood strikes.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

The only good thing in Lorain is the K Cream Korner ice cream shop.

^Lol. True, true. ^^ Vermilion is a nice town. Low crime.

Some of the smaller towns within 30 minutes of the park are nice but don't offer that much as far as rentals. Sandusky actually has nice areas and nice places to rent if you look around. It's not all a dump ya know:)

I live in the Avon area and that is a really nice city. Great schools too!

As far as I know there are decent areas in Sandusky but I don't know much about their prices or rental choices. Vermilion is nice, I have family there and it's about a half hour drive to the park. Lorain is just a little further but as it was already mentioned I'll have to chime in on the crappy reference. My husband has worked EMS in Lorain for 17 years and aside from a few decent areas crappy is the word. He actually had someone try to rob him at knife point while he was stopped at a corner in the ambulance. If you don't mind that kind of thing then Lorain is an option and it is cheap. Avon is very nice, about an hour from the park. Elyria is about an hour also and is a bit of a mixed bag depending on neighborhood. Some areas aren't so great some are quite nice. There are tons of options for renting in Elyria and easy freeway access for I90, rt2, the turnpike and I480.

Thanks for the tip. :)

You pretty much want to stay clear of anything W-T Reality has to offer. I think they might own one building in town that would be worth checking out (Sycamore School) but everything else is going to be low income dumps.

What are you applying for? Just curious. I'm going to try to get a marketing internship. If that doesn't work out, I'll still shoot for anything related to marketing there.

Yeah, I don't even like driving past that place. ;)

Port Clinton area isn't a bad area

The biggest thing to remember is that after a long shift at work, the last thing you want to do is a 30+ minute drive. That doesn't sound like a long drive but after working 12+ hours it feels like a 2 hour drive. There really are plenty of places within Sandusky that are nice and are not that pricey. You just have to do some research and look around.
