Anyone else miss the sanitizer?

I missed the hand sanitizer stations CP had throughout the park in 2001.I thought it was a nice gesture for cleanliness and customer care. They appeared to be very popular. Those hand rails can get pretty bad on a hot summer day! Anyone know if they plan on bringing the sanitizer back for 2003?
Yea...i sure loved those hand sanitizers. Cp had some contract with the company to promote their product. They were great. I really hope to see them back next year.

Yeah, I really do miss those sanitizers......hopefully they will bring them back:)
The first time I ever went was in 2002.......please inform me of what these were.

The hand sanitizers where these little stations set up in the bathrooms. They were nice you could go to the bathrooms and, well sanitize :)

They were really cool, make your hands feel nice and smelled good too.

I think a reason they took them out is because of vandalism and abuse. I saw some kids just playing around pushing the button and making the sanitizers go on the floor. That could be a big reason why they took them out.

The sanitizers were nice. If you didn't feel clean enough after washing your hands in the bathroom, you could just squirt a little drop of the sanitizer and go about your day. It was nice to know it was there.

As I recall, the official word on them was thus: The promotion with the company, likely Steris, was ended.

I never really used the sanitizer. I guess I'm not that paranoid about having clean hands. Bathrooms where you don't have to touch anything are good enough for me! I love sensorized bathrooms.

Montu's right...the hand sanitizer promo. w/ steris was ended after the 2001 season and the marketing dept. never sought to renew the contract. As a side note, the park did continute to receive those products for employee use.
You know it's the offseason when...

Steris is the name of the company. They make stuff that sterilizes operating room instruments as well. I wish they would use hot water when you wash your hands!

Hot soapy water (even with non-antibacterial soap) is actually just as effective than most of those "hand sanitizer" solutions. Of course, you don't actually get "hot" water in most restrooms... And the best way to actually kill bacteria is to both wash your hands thoroughly AND use the sanitizers.

Yes, I miss the stations. The sanitizer gels aren't exactly 100% effective, but they were still a nice touch.

You do still wash your hands, right? Just because you're not touching the bathroom doesn't mean you're still not touching something, ya know. ;)

Yeah. Like the grab handles on Raptor aren't touched by thousands of people every day that may never wash thier hands. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Well, of course I wash my hands...they have the hand sensors for the sinks too, so it's an added bonus.

Generally bathroom etiquette would dictate that one should use the restroom, and then wash their hands. But as Chaindog said, when you enter the bathroom, your hands are already dirty from touching tons of rails, etc. Now, wouldn't it be smarter to wash your hands before you use the restroom than afterwards?

Or even better, before AND after.

Well...no doubt The Hand Sanitizers Were a way to go. Thousands of people touch those handrails and handle bars. You dont know what kind of people touched them.

I always found it funny that the boxes containing the refills were marked "Flammable." Obviously it's because the goo contained alchohol, but still got to me. I still wonder though, did they really continue to provide the sanitizer just for the employees, or was it just using up the remaining stock?

Back during one of my college Chem classes, we did a lab in which we tested the effectiveness of hand sanitizers. While the initially killed 99% of the bacteria, the stuff that survived started multiplying like rabits. Ever since that it's been soap and water for me!
