Anyone else get hacked after buying coastermania tickets?

I got hacked for $150 last night after buying coastermania tickets. I had 3 separate purchases for $50 gift cards from a place in Cedar Park TX. I just wanted to warn people to check your accounts. The lady at the bank said it's often an employee involved.

They probably figured people wouldn't notice since the Cedar Park and Cedar Point names are so close. Everyone please check your account. I hope they catch these bastards!!!

I read that post and also commented on it. It was not a PayPal thing nor a Cedar point thing. My card was hacked by someone who used my account to buy online gift cards from a company in Cedar Park TX. Totally different although it seemed planned out since the the City name so close to Cedar Point.

They could be unrelated incidents but also they could be related. Obviously something strange happened last night/this morning so anyone who recently bought something from the website or has a payment plan should keep an eye on their accounts.

I checked my account just now and there was nothing unusual. I bought my Coastermania ticket yesterday. I didn't use PayPal, which is where the issue seems to be. GB's issue seems to be something entirely different. It would sound like his credit card was compromised. Call your bank and cancel the card, if you haven't already done so.

You stated that you got "hacked" after buying tickets to Cedar Point. I figured that it fit under the umbrella of unauthorized charges seemingly related to an online purchase of CP tickets/passes. Keeping the related issues all in one thread seemed like a sensible idea, but you know, whatever. :-P

Already cancelled it first thing this morning. So frustrating though!!!

^^ It sure seemed related to me after reading the initial post as well.

Everyone else in the other thread said it was for recurring payments for hotel stay and all were on PayPal. Mine were not. Mine was charged to a gift card purchase site. That's why I posted separate, but whatever!

Have to say I'm with DJ here. These were all unauthorized payments; worth keeping in mind that most people affected by this issue aren't Pointbuzz posters. It may be that multiple unauthorized PayPal charges and GB's issue happened at the same time coincidentally... but it seems more likely to me that one party is responsible for both.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Could be!

This has been posted on the Paypal topic thread also.

Paypal toll free number 1(888)221-1161. Ebay's 1(866)540-3229.

As a past victim of fraud, the best thing you can do is once the charges have cleared, dispute the fraudulent charges with your credit card company, report the card info possibly stolen, and get a new one.

I noticed something suspicious on my email server on March 12th. If you ever get an official looking email on your email server (AOL,gmail, yahoo, etc.) claiming to be from Ebay/Paypal notifiying you of possible breach or needing update/changing of your password. Do NOT click the link to update your info. These are from crooks who prey on the unsuspecting to steal their info. ALWAYS go to the direct site's personal info link to update/change your passwords, NEVER go through an email link. Lesson badly learned here.

Contact Ebay/Paypal immediately if you get/recently have received one of these emails.

Those affected I advise you to change your paypal/Ebay passwords immediately, don't use similar ones that you use for other accounts. And please get rid of garbage internet security programs such as Norton or AVG who only do monthly virus, spam, malware updates. I've been hacked a few times through these programs. Go to your local Best Buy and invest $80 into a decent Internet Security program such as Kaspersky Internet Security which checks/updates on an hourly basis around the world for these things. You can also install the program on multiple devices. Money well spent.
