It's to bad the Luminosity stage isn't going up like a real stage. It would be done in a few hours. :)

I, too, like the flood lights. But question: what happened to the old lighting system? I mean was it more than a matter of just replacing burnt out bulbs? Because, even last year, you could still see MF's flood lights; they just weren't very strong.

I know I've told the story before, but years ago at IAAPA, I talked to the manufacturer. He said the rubber seals in the housing would vaporize from the heat and that would cloud the lenses. He also said that it was just one batch of seals, but I'm skeptical because it seems to have happened over and over. Those fixtures are essentially the same units as their old Technobeam lights, only minus the mirror and plus the weatherproof housing.

I could be way off here but didnt they say there would be new LED's on Giant Wheel, MF and PT? Thoes new floodlights we are seeing could actually be LED. They could be plenty bright enough, I was reading a few years ago about a prototype light that was being marketed for night construction lighting. These lights require less power. which I heard was the origional reason for turning the lights off. LED's also run cooler, this would help with the issue Jeff brought up. Like I said I could be way off but its a possibility.

Thanks Kevin. Looks like it's raining there. It also looks like so much stuff is happening that it just seems like it won't be finished in time for us to walk down that part of the midway by opening day. It's too bad we haven't seen any sites post any construction pictures of the stage.

Does anyone know where they are going to put the towers?

I don't think anybody is questioning that, since that seems to be exactly what they've done- replacing the old, inefficient flood lights with LED floods. Windseeker has LED floods and they're more than adequate for lighting up the whole tower. The new Millennium lights look fantastic.

Thanks for the info, Jeff. I certainly hope these lights last longer! I'm disappointed that I never really got to see MF's lights when they were in their prime; but looking at past pictures, I feel like we're in for a treat come opening day!

The control booths.

They are already in place where they will be used. One in front of Wildcat, lined up with center stage while the other is behind the stage.

I just looked the webcam and noticed all these blue boxes in from of Coasters Diner. Anybody know what those are for?

I believe those boxes had electronics in them. That is the area that they were building the supports and aluminum towers, and there looks to be lights on top of the towers that were put up fri.
