I'm not trying to start any trouble but right now on the Mike Trivisono show on 1100AM a listener called in about an incident at Cedar Point on Saturday. Apparently a guy and his family was assaulted at the park (sounds like the area of Blue Streak and Raptor) by another family. The guy also complained about security's response being slow and inadequate, a few witnesses called into the show and someone from Cedar Point security actually called in.
It sounds like it was made into a racial issue, but its making me wonder, what the hell is going on? Why can't we all just get along? This is sort of on the heels of the assault at Valleyfair and here we go again that people can't behave.

Ah, I remember when the best choice I had on the ride home was listening to Triv. Makes me sad to think back before the iPod and XM. :)
Anyway, for those who can't listen, today's show will eventually make it to the WTAM web site.
Just listened to the story. That sounds really scary. I've never seen anything like that in an amusement park, especially over something so stupid. I hope the 5 people who beat this guy up get a decent punishment.

Ahh the joy of Sirius Radio!
People are just, well idiots... Some of the people you see walking around amusement parks, I'm suprised this stuff doesn't happen more often.
I listened to the show. The man that was assualted called in and brought up the topic. There were other callers, many claiming to have witnessed part of what went on. There were many different versions of the story so things are somewhat fuzzy.
The basic story is the man was laying on a bench on the main midway in the location Rob mentioned. He was holding the bench for his family who was buying corn dogs. A woman walked up to him and ask him to move over, that's where the trouble started. Before long her family showed up and the "fighting" started. He said nobody helped out. People just watched and took pictures/video. He said CP police didn't show up for 20 minutes (later he said 30) He was charged as were others. Some witnesses claim he used racial slurs, he denies that. Some witnesses say the police got there 5 minutes after the incident was reported.
The host tried to blame CP for cutting the police force (probably just to stir things up). The head of the CP police called in and told him no cuts were made. A season pass holder that saw some of this thought that security is lacking this year and the park isn't safe. Another pass holder called and thought security is good and has no problem taking her 6 year old each week.
That's just a quick rundown from the 3 hour show.
What are your thoughts on CP security. I think it's good. I have never felt unsafe. There have been times I've been annoyed, usually just somebody being rude or some kids with basketballs. I see the police all over the park.
Its sad that rather than helping people are hoping for their piss-poor quality, cell-phone video that they upload to youtube gets picked up by the today show. Just shows the sad state that this society is in.

Do you suppose if the Romans had cellphones during the last days of the empire, they'd be standing around taking snapshots of the Visigoths pouring in so they could upload them to Tutubus?

As much as I don't want charges brought against me, you can bet your behind if I see someone getting mauled by 5 people or whatever, I'm going to do my best to try and help the guy out while trying to break up the situation.
I know I'm not the police or anything, but standing around taking video isn't helping anything, either - in fact, you're almost helping the guy get beat.
^ - my thoughts exactly.
And if you come to someone's defense, there isn't a judge or jury who will convict you.

I thought it was obvious that the original caller was leaving out a significant number of details and exaggerating on the details he did share.
Anyway, there's an update in News. Let's move discussion there.
